All marine plywoods from Robbins Timber are exclusively manufactured to our specifications, andare of the highest quality, and approved under one or more of the following respected standards:BS1088, Lloyds Register Type Approval, PS1-95, KOMO Class ‘A’ or ‘C’. The fact that one boardhas a standard which another of our boards lacks does not necessarily mean the quality is betteror worse, it is usually an indicator of which management system our producing mill is working to.All our marine plywoods are made in mills which have been inspected personally by our directors,and carry our own guarantee of quality. If a particular standard or approval is critical for yourproject, please let us know at the time of order which you require. We are always happy to discusswhich is the appropriate board for your project.Full details of the above standards are available on request.

ROBBINS SUPER-ELITE PLUS

BS1088 Marine Plywood Guaranteed for 25 years

This is our top-of-the-range board! It is made from multi-laminate mahogany veneers for stability, and hasextremely high quality Rotary Sapele faces. Designed for high loading uses where strength is a pre-requisite, ithas a superb face veneer quality, and the decision to use this board or our Robbins Super-Elite (see below)should be purely based on aesthetics. Both Super-Elite and Super-Elite Plus are extremely resistant to fungalattack and are ideal for persistently wet and dry environments. Used and approved in high risk applications, andmanufactured to BS1088, KOMO Class ‘A’, ‘C’ and Lloyds certified.Cost: Medium to High

Robbins Super-Elite is made from multi-laminate mahogany veneers throughout for durability and stability.Faces are manufactured using specially selected ‘A’ grade veneers. As with our Super-Elite Plus, it has a superbface veneer quality. Super-Elite is extremely resistant to fungal attack and is ideal for persistently wet and dryenvironments. Why Choose Teak?

Providing outstanding beauty, strength & durability, Teak is the perfect choice oftimber for all types of yacht & boat building. Teak is generally straight grained ofmedium texture and appears golden brown when first cut darkening withexposure to light & age. Teak has been the preferred timber for Decks, RubbingStrakes, Gunwales, Cabins and Internal Joinery for nearly 150 years.

Durability

Teak can claim “Durability Class 1”, the highest possible. It is extremely resistant to marine borers and is impervious to seawater. A deck laid in Teak is guaranteed to out-last any other comparable species available.

The Origin

Our Teak comes mainly from Myanmar (formerly Burma) with limited volumes supplied from Java and Thailand.In more recent times fast grown plantation Teak has been available from places such as Nigeria but the quality is inconsistent,and unsuitable for marine applications.

Sizes Available

We source both square edged boards and whole felled logs, and offer the widest range of sizes available anywhere in Europe.Our stocks of logs enable us to offer widths up to 20” and thicknesses ranging from 3/4” - 4”, and lengths from 3’ to 20’.

Classic Decking

There is nothing better than the look of Classic Teak decking and for years Robbins Timber have provided customers withthe very best decking grade Teak backed by our reputation for quality. Available in a wide range of sizes we can providebeautiful decking to your specific requirements.

Why Quarter Sawn?

Traditional cutting of sawn logs have almost disappeared and with it, the skill to produce stable boards for decking. RobbinsTimber still offer this traditional cutting service which results in a more stable and even wearing deck.

MARINE ADHESIVES

Balcotan is a simple, cost effective and reliable waterproof gluewhich is easy to use in a wide variety of conditions. It is often usedin marine projects for normal bonding applications prior to Epoxycoating due to its comparative low cost and minimal waste.

Because Balcotan cures by contact with the natural moisture presentin all timbers and plywoods, it can be used in many situations whereother types of glue would fail. Being a single part adhesive, waste isvirtually eliminated, and excess cured glue can easily be removed fromthe work piece using a scraper. Balcotan is a solvent free adhesive, andonce cured is resistant to weak acids, alkalis and a large number oforganic solvents.
