Markeaton Park Restoration Project
What the project will do• Restore and transform this important and much loved
historic park• Physical enhancements will restore historic buildings,
gardens and parkland and provide new facilities• Improve and provide more park events and activities• Improve the park's management and maintenance
operations and secure a Green Flag Award
How much will it cost?
• £3.4 million project• £2.5 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund
and BIG• Council providing S106, capital, increased
revenue on maintenance• In kind contributions from volunteers• Still need to find £70,000 over next five years
Why is Markeaton Park important
• It is Derby’s premier and most visited park• It has a rich heritage • It retains many features of historic value• It is an important part of many peoples lives
