I think I would like to cater for the pop area of the market. The pop magazines that are around now are; We Love Pop Top Of The Pops Billboard I think this is a good gap in the market to make a new cheesy pop magazine. As there are not many other magazines to contend with.

Pop Magazines around now; The title is bright pink, this gives it a very girly feel to it, the title also has a very rounded smooth font which makes it seem fun, and not in your face, the swirl in the ‘s’ also gives the title a very young,girly feel.

The main article is about someone who is in the pop industry, this fits well with the genre as it is a current pop artist which appeals to the audience. She is also dressed very feminely.

The freebies are aimed at a pop audience, particularly a girl audience as they posters are of teenage boys or young male singers.

The main colours are

pink,purple,white and black

Teasers also involve current fashion which attract people who want something more than a music magazine.

The anchorage involves boy bands which would appeal to the 12+ audience who are fans of these bands.

Also appeals to teenage problems

Top Of The Pops Info!This table shows that top of the pops magazine is aimed mainly at girls aged 11-15 years old.This helps me t find out what age group would be good to target for my magazine, and by this it seems young teenagers age 11-15 would be a good place to start.

It also gives me an indication at what price that age group are willing to pay as they 331,000 people read it and buy it at £2.99. This would also be a good area to price my magazine but I could possibly make it even cheaper so people would chose my magazine over this one.

Pop Magazines around now;

The magazine title again involves pink, which again gives the magazine a very girly feel. The font is a bit sharper which makes it stand out more, it has a lot more teenage/ young men on the front cover. This means it is aimed more at girls as they would be interested in reading about the boys features.

The main article is about a current popular teenage boy band, this appeals to the younger teenage audience as they could be fans of the band.The colour scheme is pink, black,

white and blue

This magazine also incorporates fashion, this appeals to an audience who want more than just music.

The freebies they offer are all 10 posters of male artists. This is aimed at a female audience as this is who they would want to read about

The anchorage around the front cover all involves gossip about bands or solo artists appealing to the younger target audience who would want to read about it.

We ♥ Pop Info!This table shows that this magazines target audience is just girls aged 13-15. This together with top of the pops shows me than an age range of 11-15 would be a good idea, as it would appeal to both of these magazines audiences. However I could aim for a little bit older as that is not already catered for.

This magazines price is also £2.99 the same as top of the pops. This seems like a good idea to not price my magazine above £3. This means that making my magazine cheaper would be a good idea as then I may convince readers to chose my magazine instead if it is cheaper.

Pop Magazines around now;

The main article/ anchorage is about Lana Del Ray, this would attract a more male audience as she is attractive but on the other hand is aimed at both ages as females would also like to listen to her music and read about her. This would appeal to the target audience as she is in the charts right now.

The colour scheme is pink, blue, yellow,

white and green.

The main dominant image is very girly but the pose is very serious, this could suggest that the magazine is aimed at an older audience as the main image is not cheesy.

The other anchorage is based around other bands which again is aimed at their target audience. It also features bands like:Madonna, Azelia Banks, Avicii and Van Halen. This appeals to a wide range of musical tastes and audiences broadening their readership.

The colours aren’t all pink which suggests that it is aimed at both males and females.

Aimed at a female audience as it’s about being in with boys! This ♥

gives it a clear target audience.

The pages with the biggest stories/ articles and bigger and bolder. This is to highlight there main stories to guide people to the main stories this week/month.

A picture of one directionAlso shows it is important as the page number is big in the middle of the photo so readers can find it easily. This would be a good technique for my magazine as people can find articles they want to read easily.

The main colour scheme used is Pink, Yellow, Red, and white. This is quite girly and give an indication of what is popular in pop magazines.

Has a section of the magazine all about shopping, this combines both music and shopping which widens the readership as it is not all about music.

A picture of the front cover again on the contents page, this is to remind you what articles are on there and what page you can find them on.

The page numbers are again in bold, this outlines the main articles of the magazine, and ones that are featuring this week.

The colour scheme continues through to the contents page, to match the front cover. It makes the magazine flow, and look professional.

A runner along the bottom to show artists that are current and attract the readers into reading them pages.

The main contents header is ‘we love this’ this matches with the name of the magazine ‘we love pop’. This again makes the magazine flow and fit together, making it obvious of the colour scheme and house style.

The heading ‘inside this month’ this displays clearly what the magazine includes this month making it easy for readers to find the article when they want to read.
