King Celebration speaker, Lawson Pilgrim, to share ‘Making Your Dreams Come True!’December 20, 2017
Jackson College invites the community to the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, featuring keynote speaker Lawson Pilgrim, “Mr. Smiley.”
Lawson Pilgrim is a motivational speaker who firmly believes that greatness dwells in everyone! He will share an inspirational address with audience members on “Making Your Dreams Come True!” Pilgrim helps people to realize their maximum potential through the power of having a positive attitude, deciding on a definitive goal, and pursing that goal with pinpoint focus.
Pilgrim is a two-time All-American athlete who learned the value of teamwork while traveling the globe playing basketball. His parent always told him, “Success comes through hard work.” After his basketball playing days ended, he worked hard in sales and service as an insurance agent. Establishing himself as a top sales producer, he was recruited into management. While in management, he realized his passion … “inspiring people to give Peak Performance every day!” Now a successful entrepreneur, Pilgrim is very familiar with the challenges and changes people are faced with on a daily basis.
Don’t miss this opportunity for inspiration and remembrance at the 2018 King Celebration! The evening will also feature recognition of the 2018 King Medal of Service Award winner, Alan Wade of Jackson, owner and publisher of the Jackson Blazer.
The 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will be Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Robert Snyder Dining Commons, Potter Center. Tickets are $25 for adults/general admission, and $20 for senior citizens and students. Tickets available by calling the Potter Center Box Office at 517.796.8600.___________________________________________

Jackson College to offer bowlingDecember 19, 2017
Jackson College will soon offer a new sport for men and women – bowling!
Jets Athletics Director Heather Bateman said the new teams have been approved and a search is underway for a coach. Plans are to start in fall 2018. Bowling teams will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association & Michigan Community College Athletic Association.
Many area high schools offer bowling teams, so offering bowling at Jackson College should be a good fit. “We hope to have a coach hired as soon as possible to start recruiting,” Bateman said.
