Markham Centre emerged in the early 1990’s from the Town’s growth strategy
M/C Secondary Plan (OPA 21 - 1994) projected 25,000 persons and 10,000 units
Provincial Growth Plan (2006) identifies M/C as an Urban Growth Centre
Metrolinx Big Move (2008) identifies Unionville Go Station in M/C as an anchor mobility hub
Region of York’s new Official Plan (2010) identifies M/C as a Regional Centre
