Egg Osmosis ExperimentMarlo Medina 8-73
Purpose.To observe osmosis in
a cell.Place eggs in vinegar
to remove shell.Measure weight of
egg.Measure size of egg.Place one egg in water
and the other one in corn syrup.
Measure again
Hypothesis (Egg in Water)Egg will be heavier. The size would be
the same. The egg will look the
same.
Hypothesis (Corn Syrup Egg)The egg might
change its colour.Size would be the
same.The egg might get
heavier cause of the corn syrup.

Observations
Observations
• Corn Syrup
• Water
Before
• W 71.5g• S 16cm
• 71.4g• 16cm
After
• W 50.6g• S 14.6 cm
• 87.5g• 18.5cm
Observations After VinegarBouncySquishyBubbles in the
beaker
Observation After SyrupDentedInflatedBrown colour
Observation After WaterThe egg got fatter.Same colour.Higher
concentration to lower concentration.
Conclusion (Water Egg)Water moved into
the water egg.The egg had a lower
concentration.Water moved from
higher concentration to lower concentration.
Conclusion (Corn Syrup Egg)The egg got smaller.Water moved out of
the egg.The water moved
from higher concentration to lower concentration.
This is osmosis.
Conclusion HypothesisThe corn syrup egg
will get heavier. (Wrong)
The corn syrup egg would be the same size.
(Wrong)
The water egg will be heavier.(Right)
The water egg would be the same size. (Wrong)
ResultThe corn syrup egg
got lighter.The corn syrup egg
got smaller.
The water egg got heavier.
The water egg got larger.
