MRHS Chapter of the National Honor Society
To be inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS), students must excel in various ways.
As juniors in high school, if their academic GPA is high enough, students become eligible for
application into NHS. Grades alone, however, are not enough to gain membership. Students
must also demonstrate excellence in the four pillars of the NHS that include Scholarship,
Leadership, Character and Service. The following 150 students were inducted into the
MRHS Chapter on December 22, 2016. Congratulations to this year’s inductee Class of 2016-
17!

Student Athlete of the Week / Sarah Blalock for Girls Basketball. She had an outstanding
week! She was nominated to be the ‘Jim Coleman Honda Howard County Player of the Week’. Here is the
write up on her week taken from the Baltimore Sun:
“The Mustangs were the only county team with a three-game stretch this week, and through it came out
perfect with Blalock starting out the week hitting the game winning shot against Liberty on December 12.
The senior forward then followed it up with one of her best games of her career against Wilde Lake,
posting a team-high 19 points on 9-fo-12 shooting and six assists, but her game was highlighted with her
strong play on the defensive end. On December 15 against River Hill she helped Marriotts Ridge clinch its
sixth straight win after finishing with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.”
