Matula Elementary School was originally constructed in 1992. Interior finishes are
in good condition, but minor maintenance is needed in many areas. The building
is efficiently laid out, but wayfinding is difficult. The media center is not effectively
separated from corridors and is utilized as a circulation zone between classroom wings.
The entrance sequence is secure and administration offices are conveniently located.
Exterior cladding shows cracking and efflorescence. Mechanical and plumbing systems
are in fair condition, the domestic water system is in need of a back-flow preventer, and
the cooling tower is in need of replacement. Electrical systems are in fair condition. The
site is adjacent to other CCPS properties. Bus and car parking are separated, but the
site is only accessible by one road.
