“For he … is mighty … and holy is his name … and his mercy is for

those who fear him … He has shown strength …” (49-51)

God’s Many Attributes•Mary sings of his power (“he is mighty”)

•Mary sings of his holiness (“holy is his name”)

•Mary sings of glorious deeds of redemption(“his mercy is for those who fear him”)• To fear means: cherished reverence and respect.

It is not to be afraid in the traditional sense, but to honor him by striving to do what pleases him.

•Mary sings of his faithfulness (“from generation to generation”)

God’s Faithfulness IsReason for Praise

(Mary glorifies God for his actions toward his people)

“From generation to generation … in remembrance of his mercy …

to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever” (50, 54-55)
