Parents' Guide to Parental Controls Even if you've talked to your kids about screen-time limits and responsible online

behavior, it's still really tough to manage what they do when you're not there (and even

when you are). Parental controls can support you in your efforts to keep your kids'

internet experiences safe, fun, and productive. They work best when used openly and

honestly in partnership with your kids -- not as a stealth spying method.

Figuring out what kind of parental control is best is entirely based on your own family's needs. Some families can get by with simple, free browser settings to filter inappropriate content. Some families need help clamping down on screen time. Some folks are cool with spot-checks on their kids' devices. Wherever you are in your search, this guide can help you make sense of the wide array of options for managing your family's devices. Find the answers to parents' most frequently asked questions about parental controls. What are the best parental controls for blocking websites? What are the best parental controls for blocking websites and filtering content? What are the best parental controls for setting limits and monitoring kids? What are the best parental control options for iOS phones and tablets? What are the best parental control options for Android devices? Can I set parental controls in specific apps, such as Snapchat? Do I need to worry about my kid disabling parental controls? Will my kid know that I'm using parental controls? By Caroline Knorr 2/27/2019 P&C Meeting – tonight Monday 4 March, 7pm Staffroom. All welcome!

Have a great week Helen Te Rata

Get out your disco shoes because at this week’s assembly 1/2WG and 1/2C

will sing and dance a song for you called FABULOSO! See you in the hall at

1:45 pm.

Drums and Cymbals If you happen to have any old drums, cymbals or bits of old drum kit hanging around your house, please send them in, as they can be put to good use with a new project Ms (Music) Young has brewing. It does not matter if the skins on the drums are broken. Industrial Strength Buckets If you have any strong buckets (metal or plastic) or industrial food buckets strong enough to be struck repetitively with drumsticks, please send them in to Ms (Music) Young.

Ponies If you have any retired ponies on sticks they can be stabled in the music room.

This January Ms (Music) Young, Mrs Worthington, Ms Poynting and Mrs Ross were fortunate enough to spend a week training in music education as part of the 3-year Sydney Sympho-ny Orchestra Scholarship Program Ms (Music) Young was privileged to obtain for Mascot Public School. TunED-Up is a week-long immersion course of music pedagogy for K-6 teachers with a passion and desire to develop and expand music programs within their school community. This training was held at our very own Mascot Public School and our teachers were joined by 50 teachers from all over the country including as far away as Arnhem Land. The teachers spent the week with some of the best music educators in the country, learning new skills and techniques to take back into their classrooms. They listened, sang, moved, composed, played and danced their way through the week. They even sat in the pit amongst the orchestra, as they rehearsed in the ABC studios for their concert at Parramatta Park. Our teachers had a very spe-cial job as the orchestra played Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture… to play the cannons by way of pop-ping paper bags. John Northington conducted this special event and later visited the school to hold a conducting workshop. This training was an inspiring career highlight for our teachers and they now return to Mascot this year ready to road test their rich training. Mascot are now in their second year of this special scholarship, along with 5 other schools, where students will be exposed to special teaching and learning programs which include a free trip to the Orchestra (for Years 3 & 4 this year and Years 3, 4 & 5 next year), workshops with SSO musicians, tour of the Opera House, teacher training and more.

Week 5 in FANTASTIC 5/6F!

Here is a look into our Art Day. Our learning of the art element Value, was so much fun! It left us to

play with grayscale filters using technology and we also took on the challenge of experimenting with

the use of lead pencils and charcoal to demonstrate our new skills and expertise. What a fun way to

signal a halfway point of the term.
