Pastor’s Points by Father Flynn The Lenten season provides us with the opportunity to
really examine and get acquainted with the details of
Our Lord’s last forty days before the events of the Pas-
sion and Resurrection. Our scriptural readings relate
how He continually told and reminded the apostles
that His time was nearing its end and what was about
to happen to Him. In spite of this they didn’t’ ‘get it’
even though they’d been with Him for nearly three
years and witnessed countless miracles, disputes, and
disagreements He had with the Pharisees, Scribes,
and leaders of the Jews. Right up to the very last
night they just couldn’t comprehend that He was
really going to be arrested, charged and convicted
and punished for His teachings. There are many par-
allels in our own lives to those of the apostles with re-
gards to what Jesus really did for us in His last days
which culminated in His death and resurrection. I
doubt we really completely appreciate the magni-
tude of His actions in taking on the sins of all mankind
and giving His life for us, that we might have eternal
life. If you have signed up for the Best Lent Ever by
visiting www.dynamiccatholic.com then you’ve al-
ready begun to receive the daily short videos and re-
flections that work through the Christmas gift book
“Rediscovering Jesus” and you’re working on becom-
ing better acquainted with Him as a Person. This
Easter try to make a special effort to read with care
and reflection, the Gospel narratives of the Passion
and Resurrection of Christ. Try to put yourself there, in
Jerusalem, as a member of the crowd hearing what
was said and seeing what was done by those who
wanted Jesus dead because His teachings and His life
were much too radical for their time and threatened
the positions of those in power. “It was expedient for
one man to die for the people.” These words were
uttered by the High Priest to convince the crowd that
He must be killed. Perhaps your reading of these ac-
counts on your own personal time, not just hearing
them read in the Mass will give you a new and
deeper appreciation of the incredible depths of love
that God has for you and what He willing did to show
that love. Make this Lent, truly the best Lent ever for
yourself and your family by growing a little closer to
the best Friend you could ever imagine and would
ever have! Please join with me in praying for the suc-
cess of our evangelization efforts within the parish and
that each of us will grow in our personal relationship
with this infinitely loving God that we believe in and
adore.

Diocesan Policy Bans Weapons in Church
and Parish Facilities In light of the new state law that enables individu-
als to openly carry guns, Bishop Michael F. Olson
has established a “Firearms and Weapons Pol-
icy”. The policy is effective immediately. The pol-
icy bans both firearms and weapons which are
carried openly and firearms and weapons which
are concealed. However, the ban becomes ef-
fective only after proper notice is provided and
state mandated signs are posted.

Safe Environment HELP KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE WHILE
YOUR FAMILY WORSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY OF ST.
FRANCIS OF ASSISI! The public areas of the St. Francis facility (like the Narthex and restrooms of the Church, the
Parish Hall and Multi Purpose room) are just that – they are
open to the public. Your children must not be permitted to
leave the church sanctuary or chapel alone! Go with
them! Thank you for helping keep your children safe! Safety tip AED (AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR)
Just a reminder, we have 2 AED’s available for emergency
use if someone suffers cardiac arrest.
Do you know where they are located?
• One is on the wall across from the restrooms outside of
the parish hall (near the Reservation Chapel)
• The other is in the Family Life Center between the rest-
rooms and the door into the multi-purpose room.
• It is a good idea, to know where these and other emer-
gency equipment items (such as fire extinguishers and
alarm boxes) are located, before they are needed.
