After seven wonderful years of dedicated employment at St. Patrick's, we say "Thank you" to parishioner Erin Morris for her work as our parish's business manager. From budgets and pricing, to hiring, assisting pastors (no small feat!), and countless other tasks and many we are sure are known only to her and to God, Erin brought a "can do it" spirit and a new level of professionalism to our staff that stems from her Catholic faith, her God-given talents, and love for her St. Patrick home.
We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement!

Giving Tree – A big thank you to all who took part in our Parish Giving Tree this year! Your generosity made Christmas brighter for nearly 100 children in Madison County! Lifepointe Pregnancy center will put to good use the diapers, wipes, clothing and other baby items that were donated. The residents at London Health and Rehab “really loved their gifts and had huge smiles on their faces at our Resident Christmas Party. You out did yourselves….” excerpt from a Thank You note from London Health and Rehab. Gift cards totaling about $1,200.00 allow parish staff to help those in need who knock on our doors. The St. Patrick school students had their own Giving Tree and donated an amazing amount of toys! This is the 31st year of the Giving Tree at St. Patrick. What a great way to celebrate the birth of our Savior! Wishing many blessings to all of you in 2020! - Paula Hann

Message from Father Hinterschied
At the recent Golden Globe Awards, an actress used the opportunity of her acceptance speech to advocate for abortion, while also seemingly acknowledging her own abortion history, and made the case that without it, she wouldn’t be successful today.
Her insistence that she wouldn’t be a successful actress without abortion helps prop up falsehoods. Far from empowering women, abortion does nothing but mistreat them, they are punished for their femininity, essentially for not being males.
Abortion is not an example of "equality"; quite the opposite. Women are usually coerced into having abortions. Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace and in education is alarmingly common.
It’s no wonder that the pioneering suffragettes, then, were pro-life; they understood that a just world is not one where women must deny their fertility. A just world is one in which a woman never feels compelled to choose between a child and an education or professional career.
When Renee Elise Goldsberry won a Tony award for her role in the Broadway hit “Hamilton,” she explicitly said that she was able to be a mother and still win the award. Serena Williams won one of her Grand Slams while pregnant. Kerri Walsh Jennings won one of her Olympic gold medals while pregnant.
As a parish we are supporting our own Ashton Conley, Olivia Finke, and Maria Hatem, as they journey to Washington, D.C. later this week to join hundreds of thousands of Americans in praying and witnessing to the dignity of all human life at the National March for Life on January 24. Thank you for your witness and Godspeed!
If you or someone you know has been affected by abortion, know that support is available. Bethesda Healing Ministry is a local Catholic outreach of hospitality and healing. Through a community of love and acceptance, all men and women are invited and supported (www.bethesdahealing.org/).
