Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, I hope you all had an enjoyable & restful Labor Day Weekend. This past week, we welcomed back our faculty & students to Assumption Academy as they begin another academic year. I am grateful for all of the hard work & dedication among our staff. We all look forward to another great year of fun & learning with our young students. Please keep all of them in your prayers. Regarding the school, this past summer, we took the opportunity to renovate the Upper Room as well as the stairwells that lead up to it. All of the old carpeting was removed and new (hard surface) flooring was installed. The room was freshly painted. The carpeted stairwells on both sides were resurfaced with stair treads. These renovations are a result of the proceeds earned from the Assumption Academy 5K Race last April. I want to thank again everyone who helped in this fundraiser. I thank in a special way Patty Walsh, our Principal, for her guidance in these renovations. We hope to expand the use of this room for more learning activities for our young children. We are very much in need of 2 catechists for our PREP (Religious Education) program. This need is very urgent as our program is set to begin this coming week. If you are interested, or know of someone who may be interested, please contact Sr. Rita Marian, our Director of Religious Education, at the Parish Office. I thank you in advance for considering this most urgent request. As a reminder, every Tuesday evening from 7PM – 8PM, the church will be open & we will have a Holy Hour with Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Hopefully, many of you will take this opportunity to come to church on Tuesday nights to spend some time with our Lord. Even if you cannot commit to a full hour, you can always stop in and attend to a time that is most convenient for you. I have no doubt that this time before the Blessed Sacrament will be a great blessing for many of you as well as our parish community. I thank you once again for your love and support for our parish. It is greatly appreciated. Until next week!

Love and prayers, Fr. Carey
