Pastor’s Corner It was Today is Laetare Sunday, the Fourth Sun-day of Lent. It marks "half-time" in our yearly Lenten journey. “Laetare” means "to rejoice," and
this Sunday is a time when we, in the middle of our Lenten journey, joyfully anticipate the Easter mystery celebrat-ed in the liturgies of the Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter). The priests and deacons wear rose colored vestments this weekend, "lightening up" the Lenten violet. Dur-ing this midpoint of Lent, we should reaffirm our commitment to our Lenten disciplines of prayer, almsgiving and fasting. If we have been successful in our Lenten goals, then we should thank God for the Grace to succeed and
continue to recognize that with the help of God's Grace we can overcome sin and temptation and follow His Will in our lives. If we have not been suc-cessful, then in humility we should ask God for the Grace to succeed and con-tinue to struggle to do our part to coop-erate with His Grace. In either case, we have the second half of Lent to grow closer to Christ. Know of my contin-ued prayers that all of us have a spirit-ually fruitful Lent, and please be sure to keep me in your prayers.
Thanks to all of you for the kind com-pliments on the improvement to the sound in the church. As you know, the problem was too much reverberation in the church, which is not an uncom-mon problem in a church the size of St. Pius. With the installation of the sound treatments, the reverberation was re-duced, and we have been adjusting the sound system in light of the new acous-tics. We think we have things just about where they need to be, but if you
are still having problems please let us know. From the current feedback, however, it appears the project was very successful. In that regard, we want to thank those who helped finan-cially support the project and those who provided the expertise to analyze, diagnose and fix the problem. So in addition to those of you who made donations, we very much appreciate the work and expertise of the following for making the project successful: Raymond Goodrich and Lafayette
Music Stuart Billeaud and J.B. Mouton Christopher Marsh and Michael
Barkman of Sound Management Group
Larry Habetz of Gulf Coast Sound, Inc.
Jim Young of Aural Impact
Finally, I’m very much looking for-ward to my first Passover Meal! Please mark your calendar for April 16 at 6pm to join us. See the ad on page 5 of this bulletin for details.

Sacrificial Gifts
Special Collection This Weekend: Catholic Relief Services: Catholic Relief Services assists the poor and vulnerable overseas. They work to promote human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies. They also serve Catholics in the USA by helping them live their faith in solidarity with their brothers and sisters around the world.
Next Weekend: Mission Club Contributing to the Mission Club allows St. Pius X Church to provide emergency financial assistance, food baskets, and Christmas gifts to those in need, as well as support the missionary and altruistic efforts of several charitable caus-es including Faith House, Meals on Wheels, disaster relief efforts and specific programs of Catholic Charities.
Divine Mercy The Divine Mercy Devotion although taking root in the late 1930’s has remained un-known to many Catholics until the past two decades. With the support of Pope John Paul II, the devotion has grown worldwide in-cluding here in the U.S.
Following the Pope's lead, the Knights of Columbus chose to help spread this de-votion to its Councils and their Parishes by sponsoring a year-long program of pray-er in 2004. The hour of pray-er replaced the customary Marian Hour of Prayer, held each year by the Knights of Columbus. Our KC Council here at St. Pius continues to spread and encourage partic-
ipation by our families in this devotion, especially the annual recitation of the no-vena beginning on Good Fri-day. Please take the availa-ble materials home, share & discuss the details of this unique devotion, and pray the novena with your family beginning on Good Friday.
“In every way I have shown you that by hard work of that sort we must help the weak, and keep in mind the words of the Lord Jesus who himself said, ‘It is more
blessed to give than to receive’.” Acts 20:35
