Collecons & Standing Orders St Georges: £1331 & £995 St Teresas: £ 216 & £230 Thank you for your generosity Upcoming Second Collecons: 28th April: CCS Adopon 5th May: Missions Appeal 12th May: Clergy Training Fund Diocesan Prayer Link: Our Lady Mary of Glastonbury, Glastonbury & St Michael, Shepton Mallet Parish Priest: Monsignor Bernard Massey Assistant Priest: Fr David Savoury bernard.massey@cliſtondiocese.com david.savoury@cliſtondiocese.com Parish Administrator: Carolyn Kirby St George & St Teresa Parish Office: Tel: 01823 272700 Hours: Monday - Thursday 9.30am - 1.00pm & Friday 10.00am - 5.00pm Email: taunton.stgeorge@cliſtondiocese.com Website: www.tauntoncatholicchurch.com Permanent Deacon: Rev Trevor Jones: email: trevor.jones@cliſtondiocese.com; tel: 01823 270 935 Churches: St Georges, Billet St, Taunton, TA1 3NN St Teresas, Eastwick Rd, Taunton, TA2 7HF We remember all those who have died recently especially John Moore And those whose anniversaries occur at this me: Raymond Gordge, Anthony Braithwaite, Roy Carter, Alice Conlon, John & Edith Dagg, Leonardo Del Grosso, Richard Hill, Thomas Kimmins, Sarah Guest, Stephanie OBoyle, Una Wilkinson, Alice Sergeant, Nancy Whitaker, Reginald Brigden, Brigid Roffe-Silvester, Josephine Vittles, Olive Markham, Michael Wilkins, Tom Willson, Lesley Crowley, Molly OBrien, Lillie Davies, Robert Reyntiens, Karl Profeiro, Trudie Warren, Stephanie Hunt (Brown) & Edward McClusky So Easter has arrived and the weather is significantly better; everything is starting to look brighter and everyone is becoming more cheerful. Well, at least for us here in Taunton, but not for the Catholic parish of Notre-Dame Paris, which as we know, has been devastated by an immense fire. Initially it looked as if everything would be lost but thankfully, now it would appear that all hope has not vanished as the cathedral walls seem to be intact. It will be a long and expensive process, nevertheless, this iconic building should rise again from the ashes. The story of the fire in some ways mirrors our Easter story, when death and destruction look as if they have won the day. Yet, only a few days later, a new story emerges, one of triumph over disaster. Overwhelming despair is gripped by a new hope, the real challenge being years of hard work and dedication. This mirrors the challenges faced by the Church today. Mired by the sin and tragedy of abuse and cover-ups, we must now undertake the hard work and reality of confronting our past and building a better, more transparent future, for ourselves and for the generations to come. The Church is a living evolving community, not a massive building. It is all about the people; we claim to be the Easter People so let us go forward in the faith of the Apostles and proclaim the Good News of the Lord: Jesus is alive and Risen! Alleluia!
