Not only are they familiar with them, but they are also astonished that Jesus would possess such wisdom and be able to perform such mighty works. And yet they still cannot bring themselves to believe. They are unwilling to give “extraordinary” status to Jesus in spite of his extraordinary wisdom and works. It is hard to imagine what it would take to convince them to give Jesus his due. The stories of Jesus’ rejection at Nazareth, and later in this same chapter of Mark’s gospel, John’s death, give us a hint of what lies ahead for Jesus. They also prepare us for the opposition that the disciples will face in the early church. Why should we expect to never face opposition? Last week we heard the telling of three healing miracles, and here the townspeople have made it clear that they are aware of Jesus’ wisdom and his mighty works. Not only are they familiar with them, but they are also astonished that Jesus would possess such wisdom and be able to perform such mighty works. And yet they still cannot bring themselves to believe. They are unwilling to give “extraordinary” status to Jesus in spite of his extraordinary wisdom and works. Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. Exploraremos nuestra fe católica a través del Credo, los sacramentos, la oración y la vida cristiana. Si usted o alguien que conoce quisiera recibir el Sacramento de la Confirmación, este programa puede ser suficiente para esa preparación. Las clases comienzan el martes 29 de junio a las 6:45 PM en español (trae su biblia y catecismo si los tiene). Nos reuniremos en el comedor de St. Henry.
