Pre-reading How do students know what to pre-‐read?
– Course outline – Specifica2on
– VLE (Virtual [online] Learning Environment)
VLE - Moodle Vle2.harrowbeijing.cn • Course material • Extra resources • Homework • Discussion forums
Mind Maps • Mind maps link and group concepts.
• A mind map can at once give you an overview of a large
subject while also holding large amounts of information.
• It's also a very intuitive way to organise your thoughts.

The Rubrics
Common IELTS Topics
Rubrics: How they help us
By Ms Abbas
What is a rubric? • A rubric shows a group of criteria which we use to mark students’ work.
• It shows the H level score for a piece of work.
• Two rubrics: speaking and wri2ng.
Why do we use rubrics?
• They create expecta2ons for students. • Students know what H level they are at. • Important for student feedback and improvement.
How we use rubrics: an example
• Here is a video of students using a rubric.
• Group feedback aper a speaking test.
• Students decide together which H level the test should score.
Thank you.
