IntroductionThis is a high-quality graduate program that responds to the current needs of teachers committed to the development of the 21st century Colombian citizens. The program fosters a reflective process for effective English teaching and learning through the creation of autonomous learning environments and leads to the responsible and independent use of information and knowledge in order to face the challenges of today’s world.
Target populationThe Master’s Program has been designed for graduates currently teaching English or content-based subjects in English, who are interested in leading changes in methodology, education or research in response to the challenges of the modern world. Ideal candidates are always seeking responses to the needs that are typical of every day teaching practice in different contexts and are also willing to undertake projects concerned with the enhancement of autonomy in language learners.

To improve and strengthen the skills to explore, consult, select, analyze, evaluate and use information related to English language teaching and learning in specific contexts.
To practice the development and improvement of permanent learning habits that favors continuous personal and professional growth, as well as the discovery of new ways of knowledge acquisition.
Learning outcomesUpon successful completion of the course, graduates will have reached a high degree of language awareness and will be able to implement and optimize autonomous learning strategies in different learning environments using information and communication technologies, though they should be flexible enough to implement other strategies that do not depend on technology.
ICELT will certify that they have gained insight into the principles of effective teaching and a range of practical skills for teaching English. Graduates will be able to work efficiently in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams. They will adapt to different work environments and will be able to lead creative and innovative solutions in English teaching and learning processes that strengthen the Institutional Educational Project of their work institution. They will be in the capacity to take part in research projects related to language teaching and learning and will foster the development of autonomy in their students.
International certification ICELT - In-Service Certificate in English Language Teaching issued by the University of Cambridge, England. This is a cross-curricular component of the Master’s Program, which provides balance between theory and practice in the different areas. Upon completion of the requirements established by the University of Cambridge, candidates are entitled to receive the ICELT Certificate.Enrichment of autonomous learning and creation of autonomous learning environments to further develop the candidates’ intellectual, cognitive and affective growth, so that they can have a more active participation in their own personal and professional development.
Reflective pedagogy, for the candidates to act as the protagonists of their own change through their understanding of the whole teaching-learning process and the development of their capacity for innovation.

Mode of delivery The Master’s Program is mainly taught on campus, although some specific components are offered either online or in the hybrid mode.

Career opportunities Graduates of the Master’s Program will be able to work in areas such as English teaching, teacher training and academic counseling in language pro-grams. They will also be capable of effectively managing projects related to the promotion and strengthening of autonomous learning and the design, implementation, organization, follow up and evaluation of English teaching-learning programs. In addition, they will be able to set up, manage and opti-mize language learning resource centers.

Admission requirementsApplications are welcome from professionals presently engaged in any area of English language teaching or English content-based teaching.
A BA degree in language teaching or a professional degree in any other area.
1: Foreign citizens are required to comply with the legal requisites for study in Colombia.
2: Foreign undergraduate degrees must be apostilled.
English language competence equivalent to B2 or higher in the Common European Framework.
To certify the English level, the accepted exams are: IELTS, TOEFL or iTEP.
Note: the exam “I Speak” (shorter version of iTEP) is not accepted to certify English level.
