Literacy
While at home, encourage children to practice developing their skills
when writing letters of the alphabet. Pens, crayons and paper can be
used, along with fun creative equipment too; paint brushes and water
on slabs in the garden, or using a finger in a plate of flour or sugar.
The writing rhymes we use in school are below to help children form
letters are as follows:
Creative Fun
Finger print art: making pictures of spring flowers. If you don’t have
paint at home try mixing a little flour with water and food colouring.

Keep Active in the Garden
Go outdoor into your own gardens, what can the children see growing, talk about the size
of the things growing, what do they look and feel like? Can the children see any living
creatures in the garden for example birds and bugs? •Encourage children to use a
camera or phone to record their findings and talk about their photos
Spend a few minutes in the garden with your children, singing and joining in with ring
games.
Hokey Cokey
You put your left arm in
Your left arm out
In, out, in, out
You shake it all about
You do the hokey cokey
And you turn around
That's what it's all about
Woah, the hokey cokey
Woah, the hokey cokey
Woah, the hokey cokey
Knees bent
Arms stretched
Ra-ra-ra
That's what it's all about
Ring a Rosie’s
Ring around the rosie,
Pocket full of posies
Atishoo! Atishoo!
We all fall down.
The ducks are in the water
Having a drink of water
Atishoo! Atishoo!
We all jump up.
