bought a new striker and a central defender for a

total of £24 million pounds. This year, the club had

S2  The plan below represents the playground in my

junior school. The corners are at co-ordinates (13,

12), (13, -14), (-13, -14) and (-13, 14) and the arrow

indicates north. Four crosses have been drawn on

the playground at co-ordinates (10, 10) , (6, -7) , (-8, -11) and (-5 , 5) but these are not shown on the

plans below.

If you were to connect the 4 crosses to form a 4

sided figure, which of the following would be the

most accurate description of the figure:

a.

an irregular quadrilateral

b.  a trapezium

c.  a parallelogram

d.

a rectangle

e.

a rhombus

Answer : an irregular quadrilateral

There are strict rules in our school which state that

you can only walk in the direction of one of the four

compass points. To get from the centre (0,0) to the

nearest of the 4 crosses involves walking a total

distance of 20 metres. If you were to walk from

cross to cross all the way round the four sided

figure, following school rules at all times, how far

would you walk?
