Year 6 Farewell
Concert Fun
A Message from the Relieving Principal Welcome to the final Matong Public School Newsletter of the year. Wow!
What a fabulous Presentation Evening last night. It was a wonderful night of
celebration and recognition. A large number of awards were presented
across the school with one of the highlights including the induction of our
Leadership Team for 2016. Congratulations to our School Captains Chontal
Costello and Albert Booth and our School Prefect Amanda Costello. I’m sure
you will do a fabulous job leading Matong Public School in 2016. Thank you to
our outgoing School Captains Connor Smith and George Hatty. You have both
done exceptional work as leaders in our school and have provided big shoes to fill for our
captains next year. I’m sure you will all agree that both Connor and George were outstanding as
our Masters of Ceremony last night. I was extremely proud of our students who showcased
their talents and entertained the, well attended, audience. Congratulations to our staff,
students and parent helpers for their hard work and dedication in making it such a huge
success.
Last Thursday evening I had the pleasure of enjoying a lovely meal at the Grong Grong Motor
Inn with our Year 5 and 6 students to farewell Ella, Jaedyn, George and Connor. We thank our
host for the evening Sandra Kooper along with her parents, for their hospitality and a very
scrumptious Beef Stroganoff. We were also spoilt with a beautiful cake made by Sandra
Bensch. The evening was enjoyed by all and a Powerpoint presentation reminded us all of their
wonderful years spent at Matong Public School. We wish Ella, Jaedyn, George and Connor every
success for their future schooling.
With this week highlighting student achievement I would also like to congratulate Jaylene
McFarlane for her selection in the Barellan District Representative U11’s Netball Team for
2016. Jaylene will have a busy February, not only does she start training for this team she will
also be travelling to Wollongong to represent Coolamon Athletics Club in shotput. Well done on
both of these sporting achievements, Jaylene.
The past year has indeed been a fantastic year of personal and academic achievements in
learning, sport and creative and performing arts for the students of Matong Public School. We
can all take great pride in all areas of their school life.
I would like to close my report this week by reiterating what I said at Presentation Evening.
You are incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful school in your community, but what makes
it wonderful is ALL of you. It has been a privilege to be part of your school and community.
While only a short stay, your warm welcome and support has been one of the best experiences
of my career and one I will never forget. I am confident that the students of Matong Public
School are in good hands and have very bright futures. I wish each of you good health and
happiness as we move into the Christmas period and into 2016. I thank you for letting me be
part of your very caring and supportive community. Until we meet again!
Keep safe and have a healthy, happy Christmas and 2016!
