Spring is here!! Well, at least I hope it is, as at the time I am writing this it is 40 degrees and rain- ing! The joys of living in NW Ohio! Anyways, I do hope spring weather has descended on us by the time this letter reaches everyone. I hope all of you had a great time at the Spring Fling and Officer Installation. I know Amy and I had a blast. I'd like to thank all the volunteers and staff for putting on a wonderful event. Distant Cousinz rocked the house! I am sure we will be having them back in the near future. As it is now the month of May, there are two things that occur that affect all of us. Firstly, we will celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday, May 13th. Please come and join us in cel- ebrating the wonderful women who raised us! Also, Monday, May 28th is Memorial Day. We will be walking in the Maumee parade and handing out flags so please join us! Memorial Day is one of the most important holidays we observe over the course of the year. It was formerly known as “Decoration Day”, a holiday borne of the Civil War. By World War II, it was more commonly known as Memorial Day. The national holiday act in 1971 is what set the last Monday in May as the official day. Before this, May 30th was the day of observance. On this somber day, we remember those men and women who so selflessly and bravely fought for this great nation of ours, and paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. So I ask all of you, this month, and not just on Memorial Day, to remember our brave men and women who gave their lives to allow all of us to contin- ue living with the rights and freedoms we all hold so dear. Hard to believe it’s May already! The 2017-2018 Lady Elks season is wrapping up.The May meeting will be the installation of officers. This will be held Tuesday, May 1stin the ballroom at 7pm. All Officers, Trustees and Lady Elks are invited. During the month of April, the ladies raffled a very cute Easter Basket filled with lots ofgoodies. Congratulations to Kim McNeely, the winner of the basket. I hope Kimenjoyed all the treats! During the Spring Fling, the Lady Elks raffled a picture frame filled with many lottery

tickets and many chances to win $$$. Congratulations to Vicki Pegorsch, the winnerof the lottery frame. I hope you had some lucky winners. In closing, I would like to thank all the ladies that support our organization. I hope

everyone has enjoyed our meetings as we have explored many topics this year. Somefun and some very informational. If anyone has any suggestions for next year, pleaselet me know. And, as always, thanks to all the members that are so giving during our fundraisingefforts. We are very proud of what we do for the lodge. And, we know we couldn’t doit without everyone’s support!
