SEARCHSEARCHING FOR SHOWS (AND MORE)

Search by show title, episode title, or person name (actor, director, etc.). You’ll get results for TV shows and movies on over-the-air TV, and find streaming videos (from sources like Amazon) all at the same time.

1. From any screen, tap the search icon at the top-right of the screen.

2. Enter the first few letters of the title, person, or word you’re looking for. A list of possible matches appears below the search window. For example, if you enter the letters “HOW,” you might see matches for the TV show “How I Met Your Mother,” the movie “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days,” and the director Ron Howard.

3. Choose a show. From the next screen, you can explore the show: learn about the show’s cast or get recommendations for other shows, or use the tabs at the bottom of the screen to filter episodes/seasons, view upcoming episodes, or see what’s available to watch online

4. Choose to record the next showing, get a OnePass, or add bookmarks for streaming videos. See OnePass searches below to learn about OnePass.

5. Customize your recording or OnePass options. See OnePass & Recording options to learn more.

ONEPASS SEARCHES

OnePass gathers all available episodes of a series and adds them right to your My Shows list to watch instantly. That means when a show is on over-the-air TV, your recording is scheduled automatically, and if a show is available to stream, you’ll have an instant bookmark to it — and all episodes (recorded or bookmarked) are listed together in My Shows. No more trying to remember when something airs live!

Search

5

Page 11: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK ONLINE

Bookmarks to streaming videos don’t take up any cloud storage space, so when your OnePass searches include streaming videos, you get more choices without having to worry about saving space for other recordings.

To create a OnePass search:

1. Find a series you want to watch (either by browsing the Guide or by searching).

2. Choose ‘Get a OnePass.’

3. Customize your OnePass options (see below).

A OnePass folder for the series will be instantly created in My Shows, and all available episodes will be added.

To learn more about sorting and filtering folders in My Shows, see My Shows. For common questions about OnePass, see the Troubleshooting chapter.

ONEPASS & RECORDING OPTIONS

When you set up a recording or OnePass for the first time, you’ll be able to customize your options to get exactly the results you want. If you need to modify your recording or OnePass options later, you can do so from My Shows, the OnePass Manager, or the To Do List. (See Manage for more on the To Do List and OnePass Manager, or see My Shows for more on your My Shows list.)

On the options screen, you can change any of the following:

• Include: Choose to include recordings, streaming videos (from sources like Amazon), or both in your OnePass results. Remember, bookmarks to streaming videos don’t take up any storage space. (OnePass only)

• Start from: Want to watch from the beginning? Choose the first available season. Just need to catch up? Choose a different season. Only want new episodes? Choose ‘New episodes only.’ (OnePass only)

6

Page 12: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK ONLINE

• Rent or buy: Decide whether to include episodes that need to be purchased before viewing. Note that this option does not purchase the items for you; you will have the option to purchase them at the time of viewing. (OnePass only)

• Record: Skip reruns or watch them all? Choose ‘New only’ to avoid reruns, or ‘New & repeats’ to get every episode. You can even choose ‘Everything’ if you want multiple recordings of the same episode. (OnePass only)

• Channel: Choose the channel on which to record the show, when more than one channel is available, or choose ‘All channels’ to give your Mavrik even more flexibility. (OnePass only)

• Get in HD: When you set ‘Channel’ (above) to ‘All channels,’ you can choose how often to get the HD version of a show: always, never, or if possible. Note that if you choose ‘Always’ and a show is not available in HD, it won’t be recorded. Likewise, if you choose ‘Never’ and a show is only available in HD, it won’t be recorded. (OnePass only)

• Keep at most: Set the maximum number of recordings to be saved. (OnePass only)

• Keep until: Choose how long to keep a recording, or, if a OnePass, how long to keep each OnePass episode. ‘Space needed’ will delete older shows to make room for new ones. Or, ‘As long as possible’ means that your TiVo box won’t delete shows to record something new. (Single recordings and OnePass)

You can cancel any standalone recording or cancel the recording of any episode in a OnePass search by clicking ‘Manage’ > ‘To Do List,’ then clicking ‘Edit.’ Or, you can delete an entire OnePass search or change its options from the My Shows list or the OnePass Manager.

7

Page 13: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK ONLINE

MY SHOWSAll of your recordings and bookmarked streaming videos appear in the My Shows list. To get to the My Shows list, click ‘My Shows’ at the top-left of your screen.

To find shows easily, you can sort the list by date or name.

Choose a title from the list for option. If you’ve selected a single episode or movie, you’ll be able to watch the show, get or modify a OnePass search, or delete the show. If you’ve chosen a series, you’ll see an episode list, where you can easily modify or cancel a OnePass search. Which episodes appear in the list depends on the list’s filter. See Filtering Lists for more.

To delete an individual show or a folder, click ‘Edit.’ Choose the shows you want to delete, then tap ‘Delete.’ If you are deleting a OnePass folder, you’ll have the option to delete the contents of the folder, delete only recordings (if any) and replace them with bookmarks to streaming videos, or to delete the contents and cancel the OnePass search.

STORAGE METER

A small bar above your list of shows lets you know how much cloud storage space you have available for new recordings. Remember, bookmarks do not take up any cloud storage space.

USING MY SHOWS CATEGORIES

The My Shows list contains categories that help you quickly locate shows in the list. Categories are located in the left column of the screen.

Choose a category to view shows only in that category; for example, highlight “Kids” to view only kids’ shows, or “Movies” to view only movies.

MY SHOWS FOLDERS

Shows are organized into folders, and a number in parentheses to the right of each folder shows how many recordings it contains. You’ll see a folder for each show that has more than

one episode available. Note that folders containing only bookmarks do not display the number of episodes.

FILTERING LISTS

While in a My Shows folder, you can also filter which shows are displayed, or choose to view upcoming episodes or cast info. Use the tabs at the bottom of the screen to switch between filters:

• Watch online: Displays episodes available to watch online from providers like Amazon.

• My episodes: Displays only episodes that match your OnePass options. For example, if you set up your OnePass search to start at Season 3 and exclude episodes that require purchase to view, only free episodes from Season 3 onward will be displayed. You can watch or delete shows from this view.

• All episodes: Displays all episodes, regardless of your OnePass options. For example, even if your OnePass search starts at Season 3 and excludes episodes that require purchase to view, this view will display all episodes in the series. You can watch episodes from this list, but you can’t delete them.

• Recordings: Displays only cloud recordings. This view can be helpful if you are trying to manage your cloud storage.

• Upcoming: Displays a list of upcoming episodes. You can tap an episode title to view more information about the episode, watch it (if available), cancel or modify the recording if one is scheduled, or cancel or modify the OnePass search.

SEASON SELECTOR

When you filter the contents of a My Shows folder to display “All episodes” or “My episodes,” and the list contains episodes from multiple seasons, you’ll see a season selector at the top of the list. Use it to easily jump between seasons. Note that if a show is not organized by season (for instance, game shows do not have seasons), the selector will display years instead.

MAVRIK ONLINE

MANAGEThe Mavrik app lets you manage your To Do List and OnePass searches, set up multiple OnePass searches at once, and review recording activity. Just click ‘Manage’ at the top-left of your screen.

ONEPASS MANAGER

Click ‘OnePass Manager’ to see all of your OnePass searches. OnePass searches are prioritized by the order in which you set them up: the first has highest priority, and so on.

Prioritizing your OnePass searches is important in case of recording conflicts (when too many shows are scheduled to record at the same time). When shows conflict, the show with the higher priority will be recorded.

To reorder the list, simply drag and drop an item to a new position.

You can also use the OnePass Manager to view and change OnePass options or cancel a OnePass search. Click ‘Options’ on the right side of the list to change options. To cancel, click the box on the left of the title, then click ‘Cancel.’

ONEPASS QUICKSELECT

OnePass QuickSelect lets you set up OnePass searches as quickly as you can click. Just click on each series for which you want a OnePass search, and one will be created instantly. Each OnePass search will be created with default options, which you can change later by visiting the OnePass Manager. Note that it might take a few minutes for your new OnePass searches to show up in the To Do List, OnePass Manager, and My Shows list.

TO DO LIST

Click ‘To Do List’ to see a list of all shows scheduled to record in the next two weeks, including shows that have conflicts with other recordings.

From the next screen, you can explore the show: use the drop-down menus (on an iPad) or choose ‘Episodes’ or ‘Cast’ (on an iPhone) to filter episodes/seasons, view upcoming episodes, or learn about the cast. (You may need to scroll down a bit to see ‘Episodes’ and ‘Cast.’)

21

Page 27: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK APP FOR iOS

22

Page 28: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK APP FOR iOS

• Rent or buy: Decide whether to include episodes that need to be purchased before viewing. Note that this option does not purchase the items for you; you will have the option to purchase them at the time of viewing. (OnePass only)

• Record: Skip reruns or watch them all? Choose ‘New only’ to avoid reruns, or ‘New & reruns’ to get every episode.

You can cancel any standalone recording or cancel the recording of any episode in a OnePass search by tapping the title in the To Do List, then tapping ‘Modify.’ Or, you can delete an entire OnePass search or change its options from the My Shows list or the OnePass Manager.

MY SHOWSAll of your recordings and bookmarked streaming videos appear in the My Shows list. To get to the My Shows list, tap ‘My Shows’ at the bottom of the screen.

See Filtering & Sorting Lists for more.

To delete an individual show or a folder, tap ‘Edit’ (on an iPad), or tap the More icon and ‘Edit’ (on an iPhone). Choose the shows you want to delete, then tap ‘Delete.’ If you are deleting a OnePass folder, you’ll have the option to delete the contents of the folder, delete only recordings (if any) and replace them with bookmarks to streaming videos, or to delete the contents and cancel the OnePass search.

On an iPad, categories are located in the left column of the screen. On an iPhone, categories appear in a drop-down menu at the top of the list.

Choose a category to view shows only in that category; for example, highlight “Kids” to view only kids’ shows, or “Movies” to view only movies.

SEARCHSearch by show or movie title, person name (actor, director, etc.), or channel. You’ll get results for TV shows and movies coming up on over-the-air TV, and find streaming videos (from sources like Amazon) all at the same time.

1. Go to ‘Watch’ > ‘Search.’

2. Spell out the first few letters of the title, person, or word you’re looking for. A list of possible appears below the search window. For example, if you enter the letters “HOW”, you might see matches for the TV show “How I Met Your Mother,” the movie “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days,” and the director Ron Howard.

3. Choose a show. From the next screen, you can explore the show: create a OnePass search or recording, view available or upcoming episodes, learn about the cast, and get recommendations for other shows.

4. If you choose to record the show or get a OnePass search, you can then customize your recording or OnePass options. See OnePass searches and OnePass & recording options to learn more.

Bookmarks to streaming videos don’t take up any cloud storage space, so when your OnePass search includes bookmarks, you get more choices without having to worry about saving space for other recordings.

51

Page 57: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK APP FOR FIRE TV

52

To create a OnePass search:

1. Find a series you want to watch (either by browsing the Guide or by searching).

2. Choose ‘Create a OnePass.’

3. Customize your OnePass options (see below).

A OnePass folder for the series will be instantly created in My Shows and all available episodes will be added.

To learn more about sorting and filtering folders in My Shows, see My Shows. For common questions about OnePass searches, see the Troubleshooting chapter.

ONEPASS & RECORDING OPTIONS

When you set up a recording or OnePass search for the first time, you’ll be able to customize your options to get exactly the results you want. If you need to modify your recording or OnePass options later, you can do so from My Shows, the OnePass Manager, or the To Do List. (See Manage for more on the To Do List and OnePass Manager, or see My Shows for more on your My Shows list.)

Note: if you don’t see the options screen, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘User Preferences’ > ‘OnePass & Recording Options’ and make sure ‘Always show options’ is set to ‘Yes.’

On the options screen, you can change any of the following:

• Include: Choose to include recordings, streaming videos (from sources like Amazon), or both in your OnePass results. Remember, bookmarks to streaming videos don’t take up any cloud storage space. (OnePass only)

• Start from: Want to watch from the beginning? Choose the first available season. Just need to catch up? Choose a different season. Only want new episodes? Choose ‘New episodes only.’ (OnePass only)

Page 58: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

MAVRIK APP FOR FIRE TV

• Rent or buy: Decide whether to include episodes that need to be purchased before viewing. Note that this option does not purchase the items for you; you will have the option to purchase them at the time of viewing. (OnePass only)

• Record: Skip reruns or watch them all? Choose ‘New only’ to avoid reruns, or ‘New & reruns’ to get every episode. You can even choose ‘Everything’ if you want multiple recordings of the same episode. (OnePass only)

• Channel: Choose the channel on which to record the show, when more than one channel is available, or choose ‘All channels’ to give your Mavrik even more flexibility. (Single Recordings and OnePass)

Or, ‘Keep as long as possible’ means that your TiVo box won’t shows to record something new. (Single recordings and OnePass)

You can cancel any standalone recording or cancel the recording of any episode in a OnePass search by selecting the title in the To Do List, then going to ‘Recording Options’ > ‘Modify Recording’ > ‘Cancel this recording.’ Or, you can delete an entire OnePass search or change its options from the My Shows list or the OnePass Manager.

53

SERIES SCREENA ‘series screen’ is your gateway into any episode you want to watch, and everything you want to know about a series. Here’s how to find it:

1. Choose one of the following:

• From the search results or the My Shows list, choose a series. Move left until you see the series poster (that is, the image of the series without an episode number in the lower right corner). Select it.

• From the Guide, choose a series and select ‘More info.’

2. If you don’t yet have a OnePass search for the series, you’ll see options to create one, record an episode, bookmark an episode or season, view upcoming episodes, learn about the cast, and more.

3. If you already have a OnePass search for the series, you can view the following:

• My episodes: This is the view you’ll see when you enter the series screen (and the view you see in the episode strip when you select a title in My Shows). It displays only episodes that match your OnePass options. For example, if you set up your OnePass search to start at Season 3 and exclude episodes that require purchase to view, only free episodes from Season 3 onward will be displayed. You can watch or delete shows from this view.

• Recordings/Live & Recordings: If recordings are part of your OnePass search, this view will display only recordings. This view can be helpful if you are trying to manage your cloud storage. In this view, you’ll also see episodes that are currently recording or on live TV.

• On Live Now: If you have no recordings of the series, but the show is currently airing live, you’ll see this option. Select it to watch the show.

MANAGEThe Mavrik app lets you manage your To Do List and OnePass searches, and review recording activity. Just go to the ‘Manage’ menu.

ONEPASS MANAGER

Choose ‘Manage’ > ‘OnePass Manager’ to see all of your OnePass searches. OnePass searches are prioritized by the order in which you set them up: the first has highest priority, and so on.

Prioritizing your OnePass searches is important in case of recording conflicts (when too many shows are scheduled to record at the same time). When shows conflict, the show with the higher priority will be recorded.

To reorder the list, highlight a title, then move left to highlight the up/down arrows. Use the up/down buttons on your remote to move an item to a new position.

You can also use the OnePass Manager to view and change OnePass options or cancel a OnePass search. Current OnePass options are displayed on the right of the screen. To change them, select the show, then select ‘Modify OnePass.’

TO DO LIST

Choose ‘Manage’ > ‘To Do List’ to see a list of all shows scheduled to record in the next two weeks, including shows that have conflicts with other recordings.

To cancel or modify a OnePass search or recording, just select the show title, then select ‘OnePass Options’ or ‘Recording Options.’ Move left or right along the selected strip to modify a recording or OnePass search, cancel a single recording, cancel the entire OnePass search, and more.

COMPLETING GUIDED SETUPDO I NEED A NETWORK CONNECTION FOR GUIDED SETUP?

• Yes. Your Mavrik needs either a wired or wireless network connection to complete Guided Setup. After you connect your Mavrik, go to tivo.com/mavrik/setup, and follow the on-screen instructions. This process will help you connect your Mavrik to your home network, configure the Mavrik for your home, and set up your account. See the setup guide that came with your Mavrik for help connecting your device.

ONEPASS SEARCHESWHAT IS A ONEPASS SEARCH?

• OnePass gathers all available episodes of a series and adds them right to your My Shows list to watch instantly. That means when a show is on over-the-air TV, your recording is scheduled automatically, and if a show is available to stream, you’ll have an instant bookmark to it — and all episodes (recorded or bookmarked) are listed together in My Shows.

WON’T THAT TAKE UP ALL MY CLOUD STORAGE?• No! By default, a OnePass search contains both recordings

and bookmarks to streaming videos, and most OnePass searches provide the majority of episodes as bookmarks. Bookmarks take up no storage space — so you’ll have a lot

64

Page 70: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

TROUBLESHOOTING

of shows ready to watch at any time, but you’ll still have ample cloud storage for recordings when you need it.

HOW CAN I CHANGE MY ONEPASS OPTIONS?• On a Fire TV, you can set default OnePass options in

‘Settings’ > ‘User Preferences.’ On all devices, you’ll be presented with an options screen when you first set up the OnePass search. Note: if you don’t see the options screen on a Fire TV, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘User Preferences’ > ‘OnePass & Recording Options’ and make sure ‘Always show options’ is set to ‘Yes.’

• To modify an existing OnePass search on any device, go to the OnePass Manager, and choose the title you want to modify.

I AM NOT GETTING MANY RESULTS WHEN I SET UP MY ONEPASS SEARCH.

• To get the most out of your OnePass searches, be sure to include both recordings and bookmarks to streaming videos.

RECORDING SHOWSWHERE CAN I LEARN MORE ABOUT THE CLOUD RECORDING FEATURE?

Please visit Cloud Recording FAQs for the latest information.

CHANNELSI CAN’T GO TO ONE OF MY CHANNELS.

• Review your channel list to make sure all the channels you receive to are marked with a check. Go to Mavrik Online (mavrik.tivo.com), then select ‘Help & Settings’ > ‘Mavrik Settings’ > ‘Set Channel List.’

• You may need to reorient the antenna for better reception. Or, the channel you’re trying to find may not be available over the air.

REMOTE CONTROLDOES MAVRIK HAVE A REMOTE CONTROL?

• No. To use Mavrik, you’ll need a Fire TV/Fire Stick, a supported mobile device with the Mavrik app, or a PC or Mac with access to Mavrik Online (mavrik.tivo.com).

MY SHOWSMY ONEPASS FOLDER FOR A SHOW IS EMPTY.

• You might be looking in the ‘Recordings’ view for a OnePass that has no recordings. Double check that you are using the correct view by going to the OnePass folder and using the drop-down menu or tabs to choose the correct filter.

65

Page 71: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

TROUBLESHOOTING

I HAVE A LOT OF BOOKMARKS IN MY SHOWS. DO THEY TAKE UP DISK SPACE?

• No. Bookmarks do not take up any disk space.

I KNOW I ADDED A NEW SHOW, BUT I CAN’T FIND IT IN THE MY SHOWS LIST.

• Make sure you’re looking in the correct My Shows category. For instance, if you are looking for a kids’ show, make sure that ‘Kids’ or ‘All’ is the selected category.

• Try changing filters. You might be looking in the ‘Recordings’ view for a OnePass that has no recordings, or you might be in a folder where the default view is ‘Date’ and new episodes are at the bottom of the list.

HOW CAN I FIT MORE SHOWS IN MY SHOWS?• Make sure your OnePass searches include bookmarks;

bookmarks do not take up any disk space.

• Set up OnePass searches with the recording option to ‘New only’ to record only new episodes.

• To make space, delete some shows.

• Reduce the number of recordings that are marked ‘Keep Until I Delete.’

WATCHING LIVE TVCAN I WATCH LIVE TV WHEN I’M AWAY FROM HOME?

• No. You must be connected to the same network as your Mavrik to watch live TV.

CONNECTING TO THE TIVO SERVICE You can make a connection to the TiVo service at any time. Go to Mavrik Online (mavrik.tivo.com), then select ‘Help & Settings’ > ‘Mavrik Settings’ > ‘Connect to TiVo Service.’

Your Mavrik connects to the TiVo service using your home network’s Internet connection.

If you’re having trouble connecting to the TiVo service, the problem might be in the connection of your Mavrik to your home network, or it might be in the connection of your home network to the Internet.

To figure out where the problem is, start by trying to go online from a computer on the same network as your Mavrik. If you can’t browse the web from your computer, there is a problem with your home network. Troubleshoot the connection from your home network to the Internet.

If you can browse the Internet from a computer on the same network as your Mavrik, there may be a problem connecting to your Mavrik. Try the suggestions below:

66

Page 72: Mavrik Viewer's Guide

TROUBLESHOOTING

• Check physical connections and cables. Ensure that all network equipment is receiving power and that all cable connections for routers, hubs, access points, and computers in the network are working. Verify that the “link” light is lit on all devices connected to the network.

• Restart network devices. If you have a router or wireless access point, unplug it, wait a moment, and then plug it back in.

• Check your network settings. Go to Mavrik Online (mavrik.tivo.com), then select ‘Help & Settings’ > ‘Mavrik Settings’ > ‘Network Status’ to make sure that your network settings are correct.

• Update router or home gateway firmware. If your home network uses a router, home gateway, or wireless access point, it may need a firmware update. Firmware is a software program that is loaded onto a hardware device. You can usually find any updated firmware at the Customer Support website for the manufacturer of your hardware.

• Check static IP address. If you assigned an IP address to your Mavrik, check that its IP address is unique on your network. Also, confirm that the first three sets of numbers of the Mavrik’s IP address are the same as those of other devices on the network. (For example, if your computer’s IP address starts with 192.168.1, then your TiVo Mavrik’s IP address must also start with 192.168.1.)

• Restart the Mavrik.

RESTARTING MAVRIKHOW DO I RESTART THE MAVRIK?

You may need to restart your Mavrik as a troubleshooting step.

To restart the Mavrik, unplug the power cord, waiting 15 seconds, and plug the power back in.
