Dear Parishioners of St. Jude,

I am very happy to inform everyone that the St. Jude Coun-

cil of Catholic Women has made two donations to the Parish. The first donation was for $8,000 which I am going to use for the purchase of a new TV for the Church and the second donation was for $1,500 for the All Saints Catholic School Scholarship Fund. The John Paul II Assembly 3299, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus made a donation to the Parish for $1,500.

Please know that your support to the Council of Catholic Women and the 4th Degree has benefited the Parish.

Altar Servers assist the Priest in the celebration of the Mass. Boys and girls (3rd grade through High School) who have already received First Communion are en-couraged to prayerfully consider becoming Altar Serv-ers. The Altar Server occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration. Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ. Thus you are called as young friends of Jesus. This is an opportunity to develop your friend-

ship with Him. Beginner training dates are: Sunday, May 17th, Sunday May 24th and Sun-day, May 31st from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Church. To register, please contact Deacon Les at 561-746-7974, ext 234 or [email protected]

St. Jude Catholic Church is pleased to offer a preven-tive health event. Life Line Screening, a leading pro-vider of community-based preventive health screen-ings, will host their affordable, non-invasive and pain-less health screenings on May 22nd. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fi-brillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Cost is $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. In order to register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call 1-888-653-6441 or visit: www.lifelinescreening.com/community-partners

A replica of the original Miracu-lous Image of Our Lady of Guada-lupe left on the Tilma of St. Juan Diego will revisit St. Jude’s Church on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. It will be present in the

Church until after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. There will be an Hour of Prayer for Life, Peace and Protection beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Church. We hope that you can join us!

On Tuesday evening, May 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, Father Albert will present a collection of Papal artifacts with an explanation and history of each item and an opportunity for those in attendance to ask questions and have a closer look. This collec-tion includes Papal Bulls and other documents, coins, photographs, autographs, books and other memora-bilia as well as sacramental and other items worn, used, blessed or given by a Pope. Many of these items are hundreds of years old and encompass the papacies of Pope Pius IV (1559), Innocent XI (1676), Pius VI (1775), as well as the modern day Popes Pius IX, X, XI, XII, Leo XIII, Benedict XV, XVI, Paul VI, John XXIII, and John Paul I, II. Light refresh-ments will be served.

We will do our best to get a Priest to see you or your loved one as soon as possible.

The Priests, Deacon and Staff wish all of the Mother’s of the Parish a Happy Mother’s Day! We hope that you have a won-derful day!

To all of our Loving St. Jude Family,

We thank each of you for your prayers, consolations and thoughts on the passing of our son, Tony. For all the Caretakers who went to see Mom Bert, you were a blessing to her and to us. Thank You so very much! All our Love and Prayers, Jim and Janice Wollam

The Diocesan cemetery, Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, will be celebrating its annual Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 26 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. with His Excellency, the Most Rever-end Gerald M. Barbarito, as the main celebrant. All clergy, parishioners, and families of the Dio-cese of Palm Beach are invited. This Mass is of-fered for all those who have died in service to our country and for all those who have served in the military. There will be a special military tribute, a tribute to all of our Priests who have served our country, and the dedication of the final phase of our Priest memorial. A light reception will follow. Please bring your own lawn chair. Call 793-0711 if you need addition information or directions.

Mary, on this day when we honor all mothers, we turn to you. We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great gift of motherhood. Never has it been known that anyone who sought your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother, intercede for all of our mothers. Ask your Divine Son to give them the

grace of surrendered love so that they could join with you in giving their own “Fiat.” May they find daily strength to say “yes” to the call to the sacrificial love - the very heart of the vocation of motherhood. May their love and witness be a source of great inspiration for all of us called to follow your Son. On this Moth-er’s Day, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us, who have recourse to you. Amen.

How easily we can rationalize something: “If a woman plans to terminate her pregnancy, she commonly refers to the life within her as the ‘fetus’. But is she intends to deliver and love and care for the little child, she affectionately calls him ‘my baby’.” Lord, please bring an end to the culture of death. ~Dr. James C Dobson

186. How do Bishops exercise their ministry of sanctification?

Bishops sanctify the Church by dispensing the grace of Christ by their ministry of the word and the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist, and also by their prayers, their example and their work.

In Mary, we have a defender against the anger of heaven and the fury of hell. She can disarm the justice of God and defeat the designs of the devil. She frightens the enemy of our souls, for she is as strong as an army prepared for battle. She is that sturdy tower which no enemy can storm. To be safe, we need only retreat to this tower and remain in it. If we have any fur-ther fear, let it be the fear of alienating ourselves from Mary and her protection. No one can resist the Almighty. If he wants to punish us because of our sins, who can prevent him? Mary can by her intercession. She has more influence with God than the whole company of saints in heaven….The grace we lost by sin, Mary found. She did not find grace lost by herself, because he never lost it. It was the grace we had lost that she found. Let us search for that lost grace; let us search for it through Mary. She always finds what she is looking for and can never look in vain. Mary’s quests are never fruitless; neither

will ours be if we seek our lost grace through her. ~ Blessed Dominic of the Mother of God
