Here’s to You Moms! May is the month for honoring moms! We just celebrated Mother’s Day last Sunday but because of all they do, maybe we should designate the entire month as Mother’s Month! We all have one and who we are is due in part by their guidance, love and support.

In turn, many of us have become moms and now have the opportunity to instill those qualities in our children that our moms instilled in us. So we thank you, moms, for all you do, for all you have done, and for being there for us when we need you!

Wesleyan Village Music Tour #2 We had to postpone Saturday’s Wesleyan Village Music Tour #2 with Vicki Smith due to the weather, but we will be presenting the tour TONIGHT - Tuesday, May 12th, starting at 6:00 pm. Vicki is a newer member of our village and is an accomplished pianist. She has played for audiences far and wide and has graciously volunteered to provide some beautiful music for us. The tour

will begin on Langport Drive and will travel slowly through the entire village beginning at 6:00 pm. Please view the tour from your driveway or porch while practicing proper social distancing. We thank Vicki for providing us the opportunity to foster a sense of community in this difficult time!

Tuesday Update 2

Reminders Grocery/Other Shopping

With stores beginning to open again, we want to highly encourage all of our residents to practice social distancing and to wear a facial mask when doing any type of shopping or errands outside of the village. We have provided many masks lovingly made by our Villagers so let’s use them with pride!

Wesleyan Village Office The office doors remain locked but we are continuing to conduct business as usual as possible. We ask that you continue to use the drop box in the Elliott Center for payments and to call the office with any questions. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!

A Special Thanks Thank you all for the kind expressions of sympathy and support during our time of grief. We are reminded of how much Rev. George Harris was loved and how greatly appreciated was his ministry. He was laid to rest in Oxford, Maryland on May 7th.  I know our loss is shared by both the Village and the Church. Please continue to pray for Ellen during this difficult time. She is currently not permitted to receive visitors.

Volunteer Spotlight Mask-Sewing Superheroes!

A few weeks ago, we were approached by a few ladies wanting to volunteer to help make masks for the Villagers. Caroline Staley and Judy Spurling lead the charge in organizing volunteers, procuring the needed materials (no easy task given the shortages!), and creating over 300 masks! These masks were made available in the Nicholson Center dining room at no cost for each of our residents. What a blessing it is to have so many talented folks in the Village who are quick to volunteer for projects such as this. A big thank you goes out to each and every one of these ladies for their hard work in creating these beautiful masks for the health and safety of our Villagers! They truly are mask-sewing superheroes!

A message from the Activities Office Todd Bishop, Activities/Communications Director

As the Village slowly begins to return to normal in the coming months, our activities schedule will begin to ramp up again. I have been excited to get things rolling, but I am going to need an army of volunteers to help me accomplish this. I am excited to announce the formation of Todd’s Troops - the Village’s army of volunteers! I will be communicating more information regarding this new venture in the coming weeks. So please start to consider being a member of this exciting group and let’s look to the future together! Stay tuned!

Tuesday Update 4

From the Office of the President Governor Desantis has initiated Phase 1 for Floridians to provide some normalcy in their everyday lives. However, as you carefully read his directives they are very limited and our age group 65+ are requested to be extra careful. The Wesleyan Village Management Team will open the Library beginning May 18. Each week other common areas will be given serious

consideration for community usage. Some of you may think this is silly or maybe a foolish approach. However, if one person in our community were diagnosed with COVID-19, the impact could be devastating on our community. Therefore, the Wesleyan Village Management Team is taking a cautious approach in the overall operations of the Wesleyan Village. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I encourage you to be safe and may God bless and keep you.

I am tired of writing about COVID-19 today so I went to my humor box and pulled out some of my favorites.

These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:

Announcement in a church bulletin for a national PRAYER & FASTING Conference: "The cost for attending the Fasting and Prayer conference includes meals."

The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water." The sermon tonight: "Searching for Jesus."

"Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your husbands."

Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.

Miss Charlene Mason sang "I will not pass this way again", giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get. (Dedicated to Pastor Jim Staley)

Barbara remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more transfusions. She is also having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of Pastor Jack's sermons.

During the absence of our Pastor, we enjoyed the rare privilege of hearing a good sermon when J.F. Stubbs supplied our pulpit.

Psalm 9:1 I will praise you Lord, with all my heart. I will tell all the miracles you have done.

Psalm 43:5 I should put my hope in God and keep praising him my Savior and God.

Psalm 50:15 Call to me in times of trouble. I will save you, and you will honor me.

Psalm 116:1-2 I love the Lord because he listens to my prayers for help. He paid attention to me, so I will call to him for help as long as I live.

Psalm 107:1 Thank the Lord for he is good. His love continues forever.

This Too Shall Pass Harrington, Connie Ray; Lacy, Ty Kelly Recorded by: Yolanda Adams

In the middle of the turbulence surrounding youThese trying times that are so hard to endure

In the middle of what seems to be your darkest hourHold fast your heart and be assured

This too shall passLike every night that's come before it

He'll never give you more than you can bearThis too shall pass

So in this thought be comfortedIt's in His Hands

This too shall pass

The Father knows the tears you cry before they fallHe feels your pain, His heart and yours are one

The Father knows that sorrow's heavy chains are strongBut with His strength, you'll overcome

This too shall passLike every night that's come before it

He'll never give you more than you can bearThis too shall pass

So in this thought be comfortedIt's in His Hands

This too shall pass

So set your eyes upon the mountainAnd lift your hands up to the sky

And let His arms of love surround youAnd take you to the other side

This too shall passLike every night that's come before it

He'll never give you more than you can bearThis too shall pass

So in this thought be comfortedIt's in His Hands

This too shall pass
