Acolyting - Are you between the ages of 10 and 14 years old? If so, consider becoming an acolyte! Every service, the acolyte “brings the light of Jesus” into the church by lighting the altar candles. The Explorer’s Class is continuing its series on prayer this morning and next Sunday. This study, based on Marjorie Suchocki’s book, In God’s Presence, presents a different way of understanding prayer based on process theology. If you have had problems with praying in your life, or questions about it, you may find the ideas in this class welcoming. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. Coffee is served.

Singles at Dayspring - Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. May 13 - My Big Fat Greek Restaurant - 3305 W. Chandler Blvd., just west of the 101.

Scholarship ApplicationsThe Dayspring Foundation will have a table on the patio this morning with applications for the Philana Riherd Scholarship and the Pass It On Scholarship. Be sure to stop by!

United Methodist Women meets Thursday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the Adult Room. Dayspring member Jim Chamness will speak about “What Stephen Ministry Does.” All women are welcome to join us for fellowship and to hear about this important Dayspring ministry.

UMOM Volunteers - We need volunteers to help with UMOM Homeless Shelter dinners on the following Sundays: June 17, July 8, July 15, Aug. 12 and Aug. 19. You would need to be at the center at 3:30 p.m. to help cook and would be done by shortly after 6:00 p.m. Please contact Carolyn Reid at [email protected] or (602) 882-5292 if you have any questions or would like to volunteer. Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time. Come and be a part of this fun group.

Connections is a Dayspring mission that advocates for the intrinsic worth of all persons, regardless of their sexual orientation. It offers support to and education about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons and their families. It also hosts the Tempe PFLAG group meeting each first Friday of the month. Our clergy can provide names of “Connections” members for you to contact.
