From the Pastor’s Desk: This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day. It is very appropriate to have this celebration in May, dedicated to Mother Mary, a role model to all mothers. We are so glad that Francisco and Ja-cinta Marto are canonized Saints by Pope Francis in Fatima on Saturday, May 13 during the centenary of the apparitions of Mother Mary in Fatima. Mother is the sweetest gift from God. There is no way we can ever really thank our mother for all she did or still does for us. The Book of Proverb Chapter 31 gives us a very vivid picture of a virtuous woman. A woman is called to be a mother, wife, custodian of her household, etc. I recommend every family to read the whole chapter during the family Mother’s Day celebration. When we conclude the reading we get a perfect picture of a worthy wife, loving mother, a strong believer and a faith-ful custodian. We see all these reflected in the personality of mother Mary. Motherhood is not an easy job. Sometimes, like anyone else, mothers also fail in their responsibilities. The good news is God remembers our efforts, forgives our failures and shares our burdens. Mother’s day is the best day to pray for our mothers to be filled with God’s grace and wisdom to exercise their responsibilities wisely and responsibly. Happy Mothers’ Day! Fr. Padre Kavungal Davy, CMI
