Dear Veteran Healthcare Leader,
Over the last year, the Nation has had both extraordinary highs and devastating lows. Throughout each of these ebbs and flows, the Department of Veterans Affairs has quietly marched on, continuing to improve and provide more sophisticated and more effective care to our Nations Veterans. It’s one of our Nations highest callings, to care for those who have borne the cost of battle.
The VA has done a tremendous job in recent years at combating major challenges; however, most of these obstacles are enduring and require constant persistence and innovation. From eliminating the backlog of patients requiring care to raising the level of patient satisfaction, while simultaneously introducing new technology, is no easy task. Without this constant persistence, the VA could see the exponential increase in challenges- some of which it has worked very hard to shed itself of.
The concern is that the VA has yet to reach the peak of the challenges, both financial and physical, as it is anticipated that the full extent of these challenges won’t be actualized for 30-40 years after the end of combat operations. With the sheer number of Warfighters involved in the War of Terror, these future burdens seem unnerving to say the least.
That is what is at stake here: the future. The future of healthcare to millions of Veterans. Make no mistake; there are plenty of opportunities and challenges right now, enough to satiate the largest of appetites and paralyze the toughest of men, but whatever they are, they pale in comparison to what the future holds.
Where does it all start? Right here at this annual event.
With that, I am incredibly pleased to once again welcome you to this year’s VA Healthcare event. We have a few new additions to the program that are sure to get you excited. From more interactive sessions, 18+ CME credits, more speakers, and the addition of an entire new day, this years meeting promises to deliver more content and more experience then you can handle.
Join us, as we venture into the future of VA Healthcare. It all starts with you.
See you there!
Respectfully,
Brian Wharton Director VA Healthcare 2017

Warning: Do not book your hotel accommodations with any third party vendors. In order to guarantee your room please book directly with the Sheraton Pentagon City. There are a number of fraudulent “third party providers” that will attempt to solicit you to book through their channel and neither IDGA nor the Sheraton Pentagon City is able to guarantee your room if you choose to do so.
