La Adoración Eucarística se reanuda en el horar io y ubicación previos al Covid. La adoración ahora será desde las 10:00 am del lunes hasta las 5:00 pm del miércoles en la Capilla de Adoración en el Salón de la Juventud. El Cese de La Dispensa Debida Al COVID-19

A partir del lunes 24 de mayo de 2021, católico romano en la Diócesis de Birmingham en Alabama estará nuevamente sujeto al precepto (obligación) de asistir a la Santa Misa los domingos y fiestas de guardar (días de precepto), sin perjuicio a las razones ordinarias para eximirse de la obligación.

El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, al párrafo 2181, enseña que “la Eucaristía del domingo fundamenta y confirma toda la práctica cristiana. Por eso, los fieles están obligados a participar en la Eucaristía los días de precepto, a no ser que estén excusados por una razón seria (por ejemplo, enfermedad, el cuidado de niños pequeños) o dispensados por su pastor propio. Los que deliberadamente faltan a esta obligación cometen un pecado grave.” En relación el COVID-19, las “razones serias” podrían comprender:

La de ser en una categoría de personas de alto riesgo debido a comorbilidades conocidas y diagnosticadas;

La de haber sido recién aconsejado por un médico que todavía no es prudente, en las circunstancias personales e individuales, volver a las actividades públicas;

La de experimentar mucha angustia al pensar en la posibilidad de volver a las actividades públicas;

La de tener síntomas del COVID-19 o de otras enfermedades serias/contagiosas.

Lugares para confesiones

Siguiendo los recientes Protocolos Litúrgicos Diocesanos de la Oficina de la Sagrada Liturgia, a partir de la próxima semana las confesiones se escucharán en confesionario en la iglesia antes de todas las misas del mediodía y de la tarde entre semana y todas las misas de fin de semana.

Todas las confesiones entre semana antes de la misa de las 9 a.m. y aquellas durante el horario de oficina de los sacerdotes permanecerán en la biblioteca de la iglesia.

Church Approved FABM Natural Family Planning Course Offered at Annunciation of the Lord.

You are invited to attend the Main Series classes on Natural Family Planning taught by Couple to Couple League (CCL) instructors Jenise and John Filiatrault. The three part series classes are scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6-8 PM on May 20

th and June

17th

. This method is proven safe, effective, and morally acceptable. The course is taught in English. You can register online and order class materials at https://ccli.org. On Wednesday, May 26th, St. Ann School will be celebrating the Graduation Mass for our eighth grade students at 6:00 PM.

There will be no 7:00 PM Mass nor confessions and adoration that evening.

May Crowning at St. Ann School began with a procession with the Our Lady of Fatima statue which ended in the Narthex. In the Narthex, there was a May Crowning Ceremony led by the children who received their First Holy Communion last Sunday.

St. Ann School is in the midst of its Annual Appeal. This week we achieved $2,782_ toward our challenge match of $10,000 bringing us to $20,454 (21%) toward our Goal of $100,000.

Columbarium Update

Many thanks to Maria Cerda and Maria Valladarez! They did most of the work clearing the Columbarium gardens of those nasty weeds. When pine straw is again available locally, I will get more bales to put into the gardens. Now that the hardest work is done... Is there a Master Gardener who would be willing to advise us about best practices for the Columbarium area? Also, are there people willing to help just a little perhaps once every two months for little cleanup projects?

Eucharistic Adoration is resuming at the pre-Covid hours and location. Adoration will now be from 10:00 AM Monday until 5:00 PM Wednesday in the Adoration Chapel off the Youth Hall. However, at 1:00 PM Wednesday we will move the Blessed Sacrament into the Church. If you come after Church activities end for the day, be sure to use the after hours procedures.

Liturgical Ministry Weekend Schedule will be resuming soon in anticipation of the end of the dispensation from the obligation of assisting at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. We are making a few changes in our procedures and will offer training sessions for Lector, Ushers, Sacristans and Altar Servers. Job Opening

Our parish office staff has an opening for a Director of Religious Education. This is a 30 hour per week, benefit eligible position. This position is responsible for English and Spanish youth and adult religious education programs for the parish. A complete job description is available at the parish office. Cessation of the Dispensation Due to COVID-19

Beginning on Monday, May 24, 2021, which is the Memorial of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, all Roman Catholics residing or visiting and present in the diocese of Birmingham in Alabama shall again be subject to the precept of assisting at Holy mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, notwithstanding the ordinary reasons why one’s obligations may be excused.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, at paragraph 2181, teaches that “the Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin.” In relation to COVID-19, a “serious reason” could include: Being in a high risk category due to known,

diagnosed co-morbidities; Being recently advised by a medical doctor that

it is not yet safe in your specific circumstances to return to public activities;

Experiencing a high amount of mental distress over the prospect of returning to public activities;

Having symptoms of COVID-19 or of another serious/contagious illness.

Locations for Confessions

Following the recent Diocesan Liturgical Protocols from the Office of Sacred Liturgy, confessions will be heard in the Reconciliation Room in the church before all noon and evening weekday Masses and the Saturday evening and the last two Sunday Masses.

All weekday confessions before the 9:00 AM Mass and those during the priests’ office hours will remain in the Church Library.
