Sixth Sunday of Easter
May 17, 2020
Pastor’s Viewpoint
Dear St. Albert Family,
This is the 6th Sunday of Easter and our scriptures focus
upon the truth and the action of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus calls
Him, the Advocate. Jesus' words in the Gospel reminds me of
the phrase "the proof is in the pudding" - in that he says if you
keep my commandments you are the one who loves me. To
claim to "love God" is an easy thing to say - but Jesus' standard
(keep my commandments) is a lot more concrete. "Talk is
cheap" as it is often said, but love must be concrete.
The "concrete" nature of the love of God is what our
Catholic Sacraments are all about. It is not sufficient for us to
have the right ideas about God, nor the right words about God,
but rather we must add to those the right relationship to the Per-
son of Jesus Christ Himself. Contact with Jesus Christ, in His
Body, the Holy Church is the concrete relationship that Jesus is
talking about. This pandemic has prompted us to reflect upon
the "spiritual" communion that we have with Christ in the
Church through the Spirit. Our Christian faith cannot last long
without actual concrete contact with the God who "took our
flesh for our salvation" - Jesus Christ, His Body and Blood.
We have received permission to begin the public prac-
tice of our sacramental faith beginning May 18, 2020. On that
day we will begin limited hours of adoration in our Chapel. On
May 25, 2020, we will begin the public celebration of weekday
Mass at 9:00am. Starting the weekend of May 30 & 31, 2020 we
will have public celebration of Mass. All of these activities at
church must be performed with caution (meaning face cover-
ings, sanitation, social distance, and limited contact). Please ac-
quire a face covering before planning to arrive at church. Please
observe the signage and the direction of the ministers so that
everyone can peacefully and safely be welcomed home!
Please check our website and our Facebook page for
updates, video presentations, and other information about
church life as we re-open.
Peace, The Parish Office is Closed. If you
need any assistance, please call 440-237
-6760 and leave a message on the Gen-
eral Mailbox and a staff member will
contact you.

LETTER OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS TO THE FAITHFUL FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2020
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The month of May is a time when the People of God express with particular intensity their love and devotion for the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is traditional in this month to pray the Rosary at home within the family. The restrictions of the pandemic have made us come to appreciate all the more this “family” aspect, also from a spiritual point of view.
For this reason, I want to encourage everyone to re-discover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home in the month of May. This can be done either as a group or individ-ually; you can decide according to your own situations, mak-ing the most of both opportunities. The key to doing this is always simplicity, and it is easy also on the internet to find good models of prayers to follow.
I am also providing two prayers to Our Lady that you can recite at the end of the Rosary, and that I myself will pray in the month of May, in spiritual union with all of you. I in-clude them with this letter so that they are available to every-one.
Dear brothers and sisters, contemplating the face of Christ with the heart of Mary our Mother will make us even more united as a spiritual family and will help us overcome this time of trial. I keep all of you in my prayers, especially those suffering most greatly, and I ask you, please, to pray for me. I thank you, and with great affection I send you my blessing.
Rome, Saint John Lateran, 25 April 2020 Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist
Pope Francis
First Prayer
O Mary, You shine continuously on our jour-ney as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the foot of the cross, were united with Jesus’ suffering, and persevered in your faith.
“Protectress of the Roman people”, you know our needs, and we know that you will provide, so that, as at Cana in Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. For he took upon himself our suffer-ing, and burdened himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God; Do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from every danger, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

St. Albert parishioners are remarkably
generous. Sharing a portion of our
income with the Church is a sign that
everything belongs to God and we
dedicate our “first fruits” to the work
of the Kingdom of Christ. Thank you
so much for your faith and generosity.
“Liturgy & Prayer”
Second Prayer
“We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God”.
In the present tragic situation, when the whole world is prey to suffering and anxiety, we fly to you, Mother of God and our Mother, and seek refuge under your protection.
Virgin Mary, turn your merciful eyes towards us amid this coro-navirus pandemic. Comfort those who are distraught and mourn their loved ones who have died, and at times are buried in a way that grieves them deeply. Be close to those who are concerned for their loved ones who are sick and who, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, cannot be close to them. Fill with hope those who are troubled by the uncertainty of the future and the conse-quences for the economy and employment.
Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us to God, the Father of mercies, that this great suffering may end and that hope and peace may dawn anew. Plead with your divine Son, as you did at Cana, so that the families of the sick and the victims be comforted, and their hearts be opened to confidence and trust.
Protect those doctors, nurses, health workers and volunteers who are on the frontline of this emergency, and are risking their lives to save others. Support their heroic effort and grant them strength, generosity and continued health.
Be close to those who assist the sick night and day, and to priests who, in their pastoral concern and fidelity to the Gospel, are try-ing to help and support everyone.
Blessed Virgin, illumine the minds of men and women engaged in scientific research, that they may find effective solutions to over-come this virus.
Support national leaders, that with wisdom, solicitude and gener-osity they may come to the aid of those lacking the basic necessi-ties of life and may devise social and economic solutions inspired by farsightedness and solidarity.
Mary Most Holy, stir our consciences, so that the enormous funds invested in developing and stockpiling arms will instead be spent on promoting effective research on how to prevent similar trage-dies from occurring in the future.
Beloved Mother, help us realize that we are all members of one great family and to recognize the bond that unites us, so that, in a spirit of fraternity and solidarity, we can help to alleviate count-less situations of poverty and need. Make us strong in faith, perse-vering in service, constant in prayer.
Mary, Consolation of the afflicted, embrace all your children in distress and pray that God will stretch out his all-powerful hand and free us from this terrible pandemic, so that life can serenely resume its normal course.
To you, who shine on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope, do we entrust ourselves, O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary. Amen

Parish Census Call Program
In the coming weeks, you will be receiving a phone call from a
member of the parish or school staff as a continued effort to
remain in touch with our parish family. The call will not only

update our parish database with any changes to your address,
phone number or email. In the event that you miss the phone
call, you can also update your information by going to the par-
ish website, www.saint-albert.org, where you will find the Par-
ish Census under the About Us tab.

Celebrate Laudato Si Week - May 16—24
Five years ago, Pope Francis released his environmental encycli-
cal, Laudato Si, and implored the people of the world to take
action and ‘protect life, preserve that which sustains us and care
for our common home’. Today, he invites us to discover how to
get involved and make a difference; visit catholicclimatecove-
nant.org. The USCCB asks us to reduce consumption and
work for political change, offering the following suggestions:
1. Realize and understand that “everything is connected”. The
economy, politics, community involvement, and technology all
affect the future of the planet and humankind. How can we be-
come more aware of our connectedness?
2. Commit to making changes to our lifestyle and consump-
tion habits. Consider re-usable water bottles, shorter showers,
walking/biking instead of driving, recycling, composting, energy
efficient appliances and water saving fixtures.
3. Make changes institutionally at our parish, school, or work-
place. Start/increase recycling and composting, share electroni-
cally instead of printing, conduct an energy audit, plant native
plants/trees.
4. Get Involved! Support local efforts to solve environmental
problems. Find out what community groups are working on to
make city, county, and state-wide changes.
5. Contact your members of Congress, share Pope Francis’
message and urge action to address climate change.

Preparing for Next Sunday’s Mass Parish LinC Letter May 24, 2020 The Ascension of the Lord
Read the following Scripture passage paying attention to a word,
phrase, or idea that stands out to you:
Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory
to your son, so that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority
over all people, so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him. Now
this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one
whom you sent, Jesus Christ . I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the
work that you gave me to do. Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory
that I had with you before the world began.
“I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to
me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words
you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and
they have believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given
me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glo-
rified in them. And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to
you.” (John 17:1-11a)
Step 1
Consider and Discuss these 3 Questions:
Considering your life today....
1. What in this reading comforted you?
2. What in this reading encouraged you?
3. What in this reading challenged you?
For further contemplation....
What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?
Step 2
conclude by praying our “Parish Communion Prayer”
O Communion of Love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, embrace us as your children in this family of faith. Wel-
come us to a place at your table in the wedding feast of heaven. O Father of Mercy, forgive us as we forgive. Rec-
oncile us as one Body in Christ and make us instruments of your Peace. O Spirit of Fire and Light, send us as
your witnesses in daily life. Through our prayer, faith, and good works may we become welcoming doorways, in-
viting others to enter and encounter your Holy Communion of Love.
We make this prayer, Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and through Christ our Lord. Amen
