Every spring Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks issues a message to Montanans to leave new born fawns, birds, and other infant wildlife where people find them. If you care, leave them there, said Ron Aasheim, spokesman for Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in Helena. Aasheim said that most birds, for instance, learn to fly from the ground up, and not from the nest. Whether you find a fawn or fledgling bird under a tree in a neighbors yard or bunny under a bush its important to know that wild animals commonly cache their young for periods of time to protect them from predators while the adults are feeding. Montana law prohibits the capture, feeding, possession and harassment of wildlifeboth game and nongame species. These laws also protect Montanas wild animals from becoming pets. To learn more about living with Montanas wildlife, visit the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov then Living With Wildlife .

If you care leave them there

Chow time with the eagles In case you have yet to tune in on the Miles City Eagle Cam, the two babies are growing up quickly. This morning they were getting fed a nutritious meal of a bird of another feather (the feathers were flying as one of the parents shredded the bird to pieces for feeding time). Perhaps theyll be dining on fish this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Memorial Day in OpheimLate Nite LaffsDuring a charity boxing match on Friday, Mitt Romney lasted two rounds against Evander Holyfield and raised a million dollars. It was just like Holyfields fight with Mike Tyson, except Romney chewed off his other ear talking about his 18 grandchildren. ~ Jimmy Fallon

Researchers have found that children in preschool are exercising only 12 percent of the day. The rest of the day was spent napping, eating, or generally sitting around doing nothing. Its called training them to be Americans. The study found that we parents would like our kids to get more exercise. But that would mean we have to get up ourselves. And sorry kids, thats not going to happen. I have an easy way to fix this. If you want kids to exercise, get an ice cream truck and just drive it slowly around the block. They will give chase. Ive seen it happen. ~ Jimmy Kimmel

May is National Youth Traffic Safety Month. This is an important time to focus on teen driving safety with events surrounding the end of the school year including graduation. Parents are just starting or just completing the drivers license process for their children, because there is no snow or ice to drive on and they feel it is a safer time to learn. Teens with drivers licenses are taking their younger siblings to summer activities, swimming, ball games and play dates. Teens are spending more time driving around with friends going to and from summer fun. Parents are depending on their teen drivers to help out a little more by running errands. Safer time of year? Maybe, Maybe Not. Contrary to popular belief, teens crash most often because they are inexperienced. They struggle judging gaps in traffic, driving the right speed for conditions and turning safely, among other things. Half of all teens will be involved in a car crash before graduating from high school. In the United States, seven teens ages 16 to 19 die every day from motor vehicle injuries. Most fatal teen crashes are caused by driver error. Is being careless worth the risk? Have you thought of all the things you stand to lose by driving carelessly? Think about what you could lose:Yourdriverslicense. Your money. Tickets are expensive and insuranceprices often go up aftera crash. Your parents money. Lawyers are expensive anddamaging someones caror injuring someone is a really good way to get sued.Yourcar.Yourparentscar.Yourparentstrust.Yourfriendstrust.Yourchancetoparticipateinschoolactivities.Yourchancetogotocollege.Yourchancetogetajob.Yourabilitytowalk.Yourfriendsabilitytowalk.Astrangersabilitytowalk.Yourfreedom.Youcangotojailforkillingsomeone.Yourfriendslife.Yoursiblingslife.Aninnocentstrangerslife.Yourlife.

The more you know, the more you can do to prevent crashes.SIMPLE TIPS TO STAY ALIVE1. Avoid distractions. Theyre deadly. Talking on your

cell phone while driving gives you the reaction time of a 70-year-old. Texting a friend, eating a cheeseburger and listening to really loud music while driving all increase your chance of crashing.

    2. Be defensive. Leave room between you and the cars around you. Ask yourself what would happen if the car in front of you slammed on their brakes, like right now?

    3. Wear your seat belt. Research has shown that wearing lap/shoulder belts can reduce the risk of dying in a crash by 45%. And wearing a seat belt is definitely more comfortable than a face full of stitches or being in a full-body cast for half the school year.

    4. Remember that driving anytime can be dangerous. Half the teens that died in car crashes in 2005 were killed between 3 p.m. and midnight. Even driving home from school or to an after-school job can be deadly!

    5. Slow down! The speed limit is the fastest youre supposed to go. Youre not invincible. In a car crash, your body will bounce around. The car is stronger than you are. Speeding isnt worth it.

    6. Speak up if your friend is driving like a maniac or wants you to! Dont let your silence be the last thing either of you hears!

    7. Realize that a crash really can happen to you. Even if you think youre a good driver. So make good choices when youre behind the wheel. They may just save your life...or your friends life.
