CATHEDRAL ANNOUNCEMENTSCongratulations to all high school graduates! We ask the Lord to guide each of you as you step forward into the world that waits, protecting you from the pitfalls of darkness while you help to lead future generations into the warmth and promise of His light. Amen.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 28. The parish office will be closed on Memorial Day. There will be only one Mass at 9:00 AM, and there will be no regularly scheduled confessions. Eucharistic adoration will begin at 10:00 AM. We pray that you have a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend.
Today as we celebrate Pentecost the Holy Spirit wants to make us advocates of God’s presence to bring new life to others, especially those who do not know the love of God in their lives. Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will help the poor to believe in the mystery of God’s love for them. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will have their next meeting on Tuesday, May 22 at 5:30 PM in the Cathedral lower level.
Save the date! Cathedral parishioners, family and friends are invited to our annual Spirit Festival on Saturday, June 9 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Raymond Street. There will be an outdoor barbeque, live music, beer garden, inflatables and balloon animals for the kids, and an ice cream truck selling frozen treats. Come celebrate the gift of our parish!
St. Paul reminds us today that all of our gifts have their source in the Holy Spirit and that those gifts are given “for the common good.” What gifts are mine to share?

SPIRITUALITY IS THE FIRST OBJECTIVEThe purpose of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is to fulfill the two great commandments: love of God and love of neighbor. We seek to grow spiritually in our meetings and through prayer and sharing of our faith. We develop a bond or community of faith with our fellow Vincentians. We participate in other forms of spiritual activity. We seek out God’s need, both materially and spiritually, and help where we can.

“ The SVdP volunteers are blessed often as much as the poor and homeless that we meet and serve. Prior to one home visit, as I was leaving my home, I had a strong instinct to bring a new jacket along that did not fit my husband. When we met the man, he was shivering in a thin shirt. I gave him the new jacket. His eyes became bright, alive and his face had a most joyful smile. His appreciation brought to mind, ‘What you do to the least of my brothers, you do unto me.’ I felt the presence of Christ.”
