VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School is coming!

“Power Lab” will be the theme for this year‟s VBS July 20-

24 meeting at the First Baptist Church. Ages 4 - 10 are in-

vited to participate. Those high school aged through adult

interested in volunteering should contact their local

churches. Churches combining efforts will be First Baptist,

United Methodist, St. Augustine Catholic, Church of Christ

and Berea Christian.

Monday, April 28, 2008, Rev. Alf Elliot Anderson celebrated

the 65th anniversary of his Ordination as an American Bap-

tist Minister. Alf was ordained at Marquette Manor Baptist

Church in Chicago, IL.

Rev. Anderson received ThB and BDiv degrees from Baylor

University, Waco, TX and Northern Baptist Theological Semi-

nary.

Alf served a student pastorate in Camelsport, WS and

Chatsworth, IL. He served as full time Pastor at First Bap-

tist Church, Bushnell, IL; First Baptist Church, Ashland, IL;

First Baptist Church, Rosewood Heights, East Alton, IL. He

also served as Pastor at Richland Baptist Church, Pleasant

Plains, IL, and Berea Christian Church, Ashland, IL He was

also on the staff of American Baptist Assembly at Green

Lake, WS for one Season.

Alf and the former Betty Parkes met here, married and

raised Roger, (Martha), Kathy and Rev. Mary Ellen (Jeff)

Sharp who have remained in the area.

Congratulations to Alf and Betty for achieving this mile-

stone.
