Message From Head of The Department

On the occasion of the release of the first issue of our newsletter, "Reflection",a

very famous quote comes to my mind "Always start by doing what's necessary then

what's possible and suddenly you realise you are doing the impossible."

In line with its name, this issue reflects the performance of our students in academ-

ics, as well as, co-curricular and extra-curricular activites.

In the quest of knowledge and with a mission to empower the students in their be-

coming excellent human resources, our staff continuously tries to upgrade them-

selves, which is also reflected in this newsletter. We, at the Department of Computer

Engineering believe that, the sky is the limit and hence, this is just a modest begin-

ning…

1.Two Day Workshop On Cisco Certified Network Associate [CCNA] was arranged for the final

year students of Computer Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication in the second

week of February 2010.

2.An industrial visit was arranged for the final year students of the department to Centre for De-

velopment of Advanced Computing (CDAC )(Pune University Campus) on the 9th Feb 2010.The

students got to see the practical implementation of High Performance Computing and Cloud Com-

puting in the form of the super computer.

3.An industry visit to Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) was arranged for the T.E. stu-

dents in the second week of March. The visit gave the students informative insight in about the

use of multimedia and computer graphics in the film and television industry.

4.A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of T. E. Computer in the first week of January

The speaker for the session was Mr. Dipesh Rane from Quinstreet Software Ltd .

He gave information about how GOOGLE makes business even though it provides a free search

engine. The students also gained ideas for the final year project from this session

5.A Guest Lecture was arranged for the students of T. E. Computer and T. E. Electronic and Tele-

communication. The topic for the lecture was Mobile Computing which was delivered by Mr.

Sachin Murgunde. Mr. Sachin is an alumni of MESCOE’s, Department of Computer Engineering

and the CEO Founder of SAVVY INFOCENTER, Pune.

6.Celebration of Women’s Day on 8th March 2010.

On the occasion of women's day, a special guest lecture was arranged for all the ladies staff mem-

bers. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Meenal Laad on the topic “Tips for Beauty and relaxation

of the mind based on Ayurveda”.

AISSMS IOIT, Pune between 22nd –24th Dec 2009.

7. Prof S.P.Khedkar presented a research paper titled“A clas-

sified study on internet worm detection system using Net-

Flow.” in the National Conference Persive computing-2010,at

Singhgad College Of Engineering, Pune on 9-10 April 2010.

8.Prof.Archana Kotangale attended a workshop on computer

Network at COE, Pune from 29th to 31st Jan 2010.

This 3 days instructional workshop involved lectures and la-

boratory exercises aimed at providing details of Computer

Networks.

9.Prof Alok Deshmukh attended workshop on”Speech &

Signal processing organized by I.O.I.T,Pune on 25th Feb

2010.

10.Prof Balaji Bodhke attended workshop on “Basics of

Blender 3D” at PICT,Pune on 3rd & 8th April 2010.

11. Prof. R. M. Wahul successfully completed M. Tech.

(Computer Engineering) with a score of 66.13%

1..Prof Nuzhat F Shaikh has been admitted to SGGSIET,

Nanded for pursuing Ph. D. in Computer Sc. & Engg. In the

area of Fuzzy Neural networks. She has also attended 3

days workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and its Applica-

tion” 23rd-25th Feb 2010, organized by PES Modern College

of Engg, Pune.

2.Prof R A Khan attended state level workshop on

“Automated Testing” organized by I.O.I.T Pune on 17th &

18th Feb2010 .She also attended workshop on”Speech &

Signal processing organized by I.O.I.T,Pune on 25th Feb

2010.

4.Prof. J. R. Pansare presented a research paper in the

established in 1999 and conducts the following courses leading to

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

3. Mechanical Engineering.

nical Education, (AICTE) New Delhi, sanctioned by Govt. of
