The primary focus of Kirsten’s career has been in Talent Acqui-sition, Enterprise Software Sales, and Mortgage Banking. She has worked for small-to-medium and Fortune 500 companies. In her nine months with Mortgage Advi-sory Group, Kirsten has been ded-icated to a number of projects in the training, sales, and marketing divisions of the company.

She is a driving force, behind the implementation of MAG University, the growth and development of our Strategic Partner Program into the MAG Advantage Partner Program, and much more.

Of the many things she loves about MAG, she most loves the family that she has here. “I love the fact that each day I have the opportunity to work with the most passionate, tal-ented, and ingenious team who share my values and strive to be-come more excellent every day.”

In addition to the contribution she makes to MAG, Kirsten is also a very committed mother and wife. She re-calls the happiest moments in her life being the day that she married her husband, Jason, and the day they brought their son, Jason, Jr. into the

world. Over the last nineteen years, she is most proud of raising him and watching him grow into a wonderful young man.

A few things everyone may not know about Kirsten:• She was once a commissioned of-ficer in the army.

• Her favorite office machine is her laptop because, she says, “I love to create things.”

• If she could have lunch with any three celebrities or people from his-tory, she would choose Warren Buf-fet, Bill Gates, and Michael Jordan.

• If she could be on television, she’d like to be in a documentary on the History Channel. n

The Power of the Personal TouchHave you ever noticed that the “little things” people do for us give us the most joy and make us feel appreci-ated? I stress the word appreciated because feeling like our efforts are appreciated is one of the greatest human motivators.

I have a goal for you this week: Go out of your way to show appreciation to at least one person each day — a co-worker, a family member, your-self! Then, at the end of the week, reflect back on how it made you feel

to see how much others appreciat-ed your acts of kindness. If each day you make it a focus to show at least one person how much you appre-ciate him or her, you will begin to experience a great breakthrough in your relationships. We all know that building and fostering positive rela-tionships has a direct correlation to the level of success that we achieve. Be a great achiever by being a great appreciator!

Who is up for a personal challenge? 5K Foam Fest is August 3rd and sup-ports Special Olympics. Put a team together and have a great day with friends and family.

Sometimes we all need a little mo-tivation to exercise or support to eat healthier. For me these are both true, and thanks to my great friend Sondra, I am training for my first 5K Event. This isn’t just any 5K run, though.

We will be running, jumping, climbing, crawling and sliding in the mud and foam (bubbles), but for us it won’t be about winning.

As part of “Sondra’s Soldiers,” I am teaming up to support her cancer-free diagnosis. She was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Squamous Cell Carci-noma, a rare form of cancer originat-ing from Asia (she has no relationship to Asia).

The tumor was located behind the nose and below the bone of the brain, a very difficult area to treat. Initial test results showed her in Stage 4, and she underwent radiation and chemo for treatment.

After the first round she was down to Stage 2, but they continued to treat her aggressively with the original Stage 4 diagnosis. She responded re-markably.

This has been, without a doubt, the hardest thing she has ever gone through. A new lease on life changes a person and hopefully those around the person, as well.

I know this has changed how I look at things, so I am taking on a challenge that I never thought I would.

Look them up on the web:

Stewart + Brown’s seasonal collec-tion is fashioned of organic plant fibers such as cotton pima, jersey, terry, and crepe; green fabrics like renewable tencel, hemp, silk, and linen; and sustainable, eco- friendly premium knitwear such as merino wool, yak down, and Mon-golian cashmere.

The cashmere is produced exclusive-ly with fibers hand-combed from the downy undercoat of cashmere goats from Outer Mongolia. They mindfully harvest, spin, and knit the garments in Mongolia to help sustain the cen-

turies-old nomadic way of life of Mongolian herders. Their designs are beautiful and classic with modern flair. www.stewartbrown.com n

Growing up in southern Minneso-ta, a normal summer began with tilling the ground until the hard winter clumps of soil yielded into soft black dirt. Next we began the process of selecting the right veg-gies to grow in the hot Minnesota summers.

We always started out with seed packs of big, red beefsteak tomatoes, packs of cucumber seeds, and plenty of onion starts. No respectable gar-den was complete without neat little rows of carrots and radish tops. If we were feeling adventurous, we would plant kohlrabi. Some summers yield-ed iceberg lettuce and celery, and one year we grew artichokes. It was always fun to try something new.

The arduous task of weeding the gar-den seemed to produce a bumper crop of weeds every morning. We would pull them in the afternoon and, magically, the next morning they would be back in all their glory. From mid-July on, the veggies be-came a staple at our dinner table. By late July, we would get out the can-

ning jars and lids and begin the an-nual process of canning or “putting up” the pickles and tomatoes, green beans, and sweet corn. It seems like we always picked the hottest day of summer to can 50 quarts of toma-toes or dill pickles. There is no feel-ing like the satisfaction of seeing row after row of neat jars full of home grown summer vegetables lined up on your kitchen table. For the last five years, I have revived my old can-ning customs. I fill the cupboards with summer veggies that can be enjoyed in soups, stews, stir fries, or casseroles in the dead of winter. Because you reuse the canning jars, the only cost involved is the cost of your fruits or vegetables and new flat lids each year.

This past year I canned dill pick-les, bread and butter pickles, dill green beans, marinated mush-rooms, marinated asparagus, basil onion tomatoes, salsa, applesauce, strawberry jam, apple butter, and blackberry jam. The best part of can-ning is knowing exactly what is in each jar, the amount of sugar or salt, how spicy and how fresh each of the foods are. If you are interested in recipes or canning tips, e-mail [email protected] and I will gladly do what I can to help you on your own summer canning adventure.

I want to thank everyone who sup-ported me in my debut Muay Thai fight on Sat, May 4th in Olympia. The Everett Office went all out decorating my office and serenad-ing me with Eye of the Tiger to get me pumped up in the days before the big event!

I have been training in Muay Thai at Total Confidence Martial Arts in Bell-ingham for nearly six years, but this was my first time stepping into the ring. In preparation for my first fight, I disciplined myself with healthy eating habits and trained six days a week over the last four months.

The fight card consisted of 13 fights, of which mine was the only female bout.

My opponent and I traded punches, kicks, and knees for three rounds lasting two minutes each, with one

minute rests in between. We both fought hard and gave it our all! In the end, it came down to the judge’s decision in my opponent’s favor.

While I did not win the fight that night, there were several meaningful highlights:

•My opponent and I were awarded “Best Fight of the Night”. We were offered a USEACA title fight, giving us the opportunity to meet in the ring again for five rounds as the headline fight

•My opponent shared with me that ours was her most challenging bat-tle thus far, a real compliment since this was her fith fight.

Overall, this has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life, one that I will carry with me forever.

Commitment to WOW

Kudos to Marketing from the Sauve team: Brenda Carter and her mar-keting team are absolutely amazing! Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts in getting our marketing materials down to California in time for the multiple presentations Nikki did on such short notice! Our MAG Advantage Partner Program is over the top!

Kudos to Shawnna Alexander from Tom Pessemier: I live in the Product Desk website! It’s always open on my computer because it’s so intui-tive and well-organized. On the rare occasion I can’t find an answer to a quirky question, you’re always super friendly and helpful. You’re doing an awesome job, and I want you to

know I appreciate all you do to help me get answers fast and easy. You di-rectly help me to do more business, and I want you to know I appreciate it a ton. Keep up the great work!

Kudos to Stephanie Kemple from Loretta Culler: When I found out that I left my son’s name off of my ap-plication for dental insurance plan, she contacted them immediately and asked to have him added. We weren’t sure if it was even possi-ble but two days later, she wrote to me and told me that they did add him and his appointment would be covered. I really think that’s amaz-ing that she responded so quickly. Way to go, Stephanie! It may have seemed like a small thing to you, but it was huge for me. Thanks so much.

Positive and Professional

Kudos to Danielle Villasin from Barb Stannik: She has an amazing and welcoming smile! When we were introducing Elise Espelund to our team, Danielle jumped up and gave her the best welcome. I really think Danielle set the pace for the homegrown, down to earth feel of hospitality in Marysville! As DFI here, I think she rocked the welcome wag-on in a really MAG-nificent way and made Elise feel like family!

Kudos to Melissa Wood from Bonnie Brown: I would just like to take a minute and say what a plea-sure it has been working with Melis-sa (Elle) Wood. She is a super fan-tastic person and I am sad to see her go. I hope she enjoys her time at home with her daughter but remem-bers to come visit us often. I love ya, Elle Wood, and will miss you greatly!

Kudos to Erik Noet from the Sauve team — Erik has helped us so much with so many different loans! He is absolutely brilliant and has saved a few of our deals! He is always avail-able to help even in the busiest of times! Thank you, Erik!

Kudos to Shannon Cordova and Danielle Facey from the Sauve team: Thank you girls for all of your hard work! Each of you is such a pleasure to work with! We adore you! We couldn’t do this without you! You make our jobs so much easier and fun!

Kudos to Chris Wortham from the Sauve team — Chris you have helped us on a number of different occa-sions with multiple different loans! Thank you for all of your hard work and always being available!! You are so awesome!

Kudos to Jim Miller From the Mill Creek Production Team: With the addition of Jim Miller as our BOM in Mill Creek, our stress level has been reduced by having an on-site person to go to with any issues we have. Jim is so easy to talk to and we are so happy that he is here taking care of us. Thank you Jim!

Delight the Customer

Kudos to Funding Department from Nancy Fox: I want to give ku-dos to Sam Goosman and the entire funding department. They totally rocked it once again in April with same-day and on-time funding no matter what it takes.

Kudos and thank you to Lisa Britton and her team of underwrit-ers and processors from Dave Gard-ner. A particularly tough loan was able to get completed and funded to meet a closing date and wow the agents and more importantly the cli-ent. The client has already posted a positive review on Yelp thanking “Our Team”. The client had nothing but good things to say about our en-tire team and process.

A major thank you to Shelly, Hayley and Marcie from Dave Gardner. Without your hard work and late hours, I doubt the Serles fami-ly would have been able to get the keys to their new home. Your hard work day-in and day-out are a tes-tament to what it means to keep the client first and do all we can as a team to ensure their purchase goes as smoothly as possible. Thank you.

Uncompromising Integrity

Kudos to Danielle Facey from Shan-non Cordova — Thank you so much for everything you do for me and our team. You give 110% every day and you go above and beyond to do your job and do it well. You take pride in your work and are always seek-ing ways to improve. You are such an amazing and remarkable person, and I am so thankful that you are a part of my team. I couldn’t do what I do without you. Thank you!

To Cheryl Haugen from Rebecca Wisner: In the 27 years I have been in the mortgage business I have never met a more dedicated, help-ful, driven and passionate processor (Loan Specialist). She is kind, caring, and a true professional. I want to let her know how special she is! n
