FIRST TIME What is Fiction Express? !Fiction Express is an original platform for publishing children’s fiction, as it allows readers to determine the course of the plot, in real time, while stories are being written. !How does Fiction Express work in Schools? !Fiction Express e-books are published in weekly episodes on the Fiction Express for Schools website http://schools.fictionexpress.co.uk each Friday at 3 pm. At the end of every cliffhanging episode readers are given voting options to decide where the plot goes next. The readers vote by 3 pm on Tuesday and the winning vote is conveyed to the author, who then writes the next episode, in real time, according to the readers’ choice. !How is Fiction Express for Schools used in the classroom? Fiction Express for Schools is an extremely versatile literacy tool and can be used in a variety of ways including: as a stand-alone class read for enjoyment in its own right as a text for shared reading with the class, leading to writing and cross-curricular activities as a text for a guided reading group – to challenge more able pupils, or support those of lower ability, depending where it is used as an independent comprehension activity as a text for a book club or writers’ club as a homework challenge over the weekend or on a Monday night Fiction Express also tackles a few key current issues, such as the renewed OFSTED focus on literacy, stimulating reluctant readers, encouraging and developing boys’ reading and developing IT across the curriculum. Since the same stories are read each week by pupils across the country, and around the world, there are fantastic opportunities for inter-school networking and discussion.

It just makes reading a pleasure !
