Tiwari in The MoU provides for utilising IOCL's spare capacity of existing the presence of Union Shipping Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union SPMs (Single Point Mooring) at Paradip. Chairman, PPT extended a warm welcome and later on Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT made a presentation on the origin, growth and unique features about Paradip Port at the Board Room. Visit of Dignitary Paradip Port surges ahead Paradip Port Trust, in the current financial year up to 30th April, 2017 handled 7.33 Million Metric Tonnes as compared to 7.23 Million Metric Tonnes of Cargo handled during the corresponding period of the previous year. This is an increase of 1.40% over the traffic handled during corresponding period of previous year. In the current financial year up to April 2017, Coking Coal traffic has exhibited a growth of 30%. Similarly POL Traffic has increased by 2.15%, and other Cargo traffic grew by 18.91% compared to the same period of previous year. Paradip Port has retained the second highest position in terms of Cargo handled amongst all the major ports till the end of April 2017. The average Berth-day output up to the month improved by 7.65% over the corresponding period of previous year. The Port achieved an output per ship berth day of 24,809 MMT / Day in April 2017 as compared to 23,046 MMT / Day. The Port also handled 142 vessels in April 2017 as compared to 136 vessels in April 2016. Paradip Port Trust handled 43.40 Million Metric Tonnes rail borne traffic up to the end of April, 2017 as compared to 40.36 Million Metric Tonnes handled during the corresponding period of the previous year with a growth of 7.50%. The average TRT registered an improvement from a level of 4.10 days in April, 2016 to 3.84 days in April, 2017. The average Berth-day output up to the month improved by 7.65% over the corresponding period

of previous year. The Port achieved an output per ship berth day of 24,809 MMT / Day in April 2017

as compared to 23,046 MMT / Day.

NRL signs MoU with Paradip Port Trust and Indian Oil Corporation for import of Crude Oil en-route Paradip Port

The 54th National Maritime Day was observed with gusto by

Paradip Port Trust on 5th April, 2017. Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman,

Paradip Port Trust unfurled the National Maritime Day flag at the

function held at Wet Basin of the Port in the morning. Addressing on

the occasion Shri Roy, elucidated on the importance of celebration

of Maritime day and emphasized on the current challenges and

opportunities for the Maritime Trade in India. Shri Roy appreciated

the performance of the Paradip Port, especially of the Marine

Department as the best, for their prompt and efficient marine

services. During FY 2016-17, PPT has handled 88.95 Million Metric occasion, Indian Coast Guard, CISF and the trainees of Orissa

Maritime Academy. Besides, Swachh Bharat Awards were given to

CME, Dy. CE and Marine Dept. Establishment Section for the month

of April 2017 for keeping their offices neat and clean. Chief Guest

Shri Roy gave away the prizes to the winners. Shri B. Sikdar, Sr.

Marine Engineer of PPT tendered Vote of thanks. In In the evening a

seminar was organised by Marine Dept. of PPT at Officer's Club with

the theme - "Connecting India through Shipping."

Tonnes of cargo and retained 2nd position amongst all the Major

Ports with an annual growth rate of 16.5%, which is the highest

achievement in the history of PPT. He called upon the officers and

employees of PPT to contribute for a another record braking

achievement in next fiscal also, so that PPT will hit the target of 100

Million Metric Tonnes in cargo handling.

Shri N. Vaiyapuri, Dy. Chairman, PPT also impressed upon the PPT

officers and employees to aim at the magic figure of 100 MMT in

cargo handling. Capt. Paul N Joseph, Dy. Conservator, PPT

presiding over the function said that the 5th April is celebrated as

National Maritime Day in India because history was created on this

day in the year 1919, when the first Indian owned ship SS Loyalty,

sailed from Bombay to London. Guest of Honour Capt. O.P. Paul

(Retd.) was felicitated on the occasion. Capt. A.K. Mohapatra,

Harbour Master introduced the guests, while giving the welcome

address.

Several competitions relating to marine jobs were conducted

amongst the employees of Paradip Port Trust, ladies present on the

Paradip Port Trust celebrated the 126th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar

Paradip Port Trust celebrated the 126th Birth Anniversary

celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 14.04.2017. To

commemorate the occasion, Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT along

with other Senior Officers of PPT, employees, representatives of

Trade Unions, members of PPT SC & ST Employees Welfare

Associations offered floral tributes at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

near Gate No. 4 in the morning. Later, Shri Roy, inaugurated the Dr.

B.R. Ambedkar Library-cum-Reading Room at Madhuban, which is

opened by the PPT SC & ST Welfare Association with the help of Rs.

10.00 Lakhs sanctioned by PPT under CSR.

Samity have undertaken cleaning programmes at Mundapada and A Swachhata Workshop was conducted at Saraswati Sishu Mandir, Sandhakuda slums on 1st and 15th April, 2017 respectively in the Sr. School on 25.04.2017 to inoculate the spirit of Swachhata periphery of Paradip, under Swachh Bharat Campaign. The message Awareness among the students.- "Our Cleanliness is the beauty of Mother India" was sent out to the

slum people. The Officials of the Marine and Traffic Dept., PPT,

Officials of Paradip Municipality and the lady volunteers of the

Paradip Sakshyarata Samity, cleared the wild growth of vegetation,

cleaned the slum road and removed the roadside garbage.

PPT has made a year-long schedule to under take cleanliness in and

aroung Paradip area on every 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month,

by each Department.

A Street Play named "Polythene Rakshyasa" was performed by local

cultural organisation Canmass at Udayabata and Bauriapalanda

Slums on 08.04.2017 to make the denizens aware about the hazards

of the polythene. In order to encourage the officers and employees to

keep their offices neat and clean, surprise inspections were

conducted in April, 2017 and prizes have been awarded by

Swachh Bharat Cleanliness Drive by Traffic Departmentat Mundapada, Madhuban on 15.04.2017

Sagarmala Project

As a part of capacity augmentation

under Sagarmala programme, an outer

harbour is proposed by PPT at an

estimated cost of ` 8764 Cr. to handle

large Cape size vessels up to 2 Lakh

DWT, up to 22 M draught and

expected to be operational in 2021.
