May 2017 1 Christian Education Week Round-up The last week in April was Christian Education week. During this time, our students had the opportunity to dress in a special way: mismatch day, favorite sports day, etc. We also took the time to do some fun extra curricular activities: relay games, we attempted to go fishing, and had a popcorn party. Then on Friday, we held our annual Grandparent’s Day with a cultural fair, special chapel, and performance in the afternoon. All in all, it was a fun exciting day, but even with all those activities, the real purpose of the week was to celebrate the freedom our country and school has to train children in the way we think best using the Bible as our source of wisdom. It is during this week that we ask the students to write essays, based on the theme. This year's theme was "Go Fish", so we asked our students to dwell on the great commission given to us in the new testament. Please pray for our students as they attempt to follow God and his calling for us to go into the world and be a witness for Him. In Christ, Craig Rapinchuk

Music: Congrats to the marching band on a job well done at Tulip Time! It was great to see all of the schools in matching uniforms this year! We had an excellent performance for our Grandparent's Day concert and chapel. The K-8 worked so hard to make it a success for the glory of the Lord! In May, we will be working towards 8th grade graduation! Soli Deo Gloria,

Mrs. Ansley Kindergarten: The Kindergarteners will stay busy during this last month of school. We have learned so much from letter names and sounds to reading short books and sight words. It is amazing how much they can absorb in a year! Our chicks should hatch around the 10th, so we will be patiently waiting to meet them! We will continue to study living things and we will end our science of the year talking about plants. Our last Bible unit is all about Jesus' life on earth. We will study the parables and the miracles from Jesus. We end our year by having a fun filled trip to the zoo and Kindergarten graduation. Praise Jesus for a wonderful year!

Mrs. Veenstra

3rd / 4th Grade: We are rapidly coming to the end of our school year! In science, we are studying about electricity and magnets. In history, we will end the year learning about the Civil War, and even completing a simulation to see what types of decisions a soldier had to make on a daily basis. Thank you to all our helpers for a wonderful school year!

Miss Taft

7th/ 8th: As we look toward the end of the school year, both 5th/6th and 7th/8th will be wrapping up their study of American history. Our 5th/6th graders will be finishing by launching into the new millennium with Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. In 7th/8th grade, we will examine World War I and World War II before ending with the 21st century. Miss Kraayenbrink Library News: Stepping Stones in Grinnell and Marshalltown are collecting used Christian and family friendly adult and children’s books. For each book collected, PCS will recive $1.00 towards the purchase of new books from the Stepping Stones store. You may bring books that you would like to donate to the school office at Peroia Christian School. You can drop books off unitl May 25th and then start saving over the summer to start dropping off again in August. This is an on-going project so you can keep donating when the new school begns. The Rapinchuk’s will be leaving after 5 years of service for the school. We would like to show our appreciation to them on May 25, 2017, which is the last day of school. There will be chapel in the gym at 8:30 a.m. Following chapel there will be a special coffee time for the Rapinchuk’s. You are all invited and encouraged to attend.

Anchored in Christ
