In Thailand DKI APCSS hosted thefourth multilateral workshop in the“Building Maritime Shared Awarenessin Southeast Asia” series to advanceregional efforts to build a RecognizedMaritime Picture (RMP) forSoutheast Asia. Building ondiscussions begun in 2015, thisiteration in the series developedrecommendations for informationsharing protocols and tools tosupport information sharingagreement between ASEANmember states. Dr. Saira Yamin joined the Nevada National Guard inTonga from May 7-11 to support a NationalSymposium on Women, Peace and Security. Theevent, hosted by His Majesty’s Armed Forces inTonga, was a successful whole-of-government andsociety dialogue on the value of a National ActionPlan (NAP) on Women, Peace and Security for theisland nation. Dr. Yamin gave presentations on theWomen, Peace and Security global agenda and theAsia-Pacific security environment from a genderedlens. The program concluded with recommendations
for an action-plan todesign, develop, andimplement a NAPthrough enhancedcivil-militarycooperation,awareness raisinginitiatives,consultations withcivil society,budgeting and reviewmechanisms. TheSymposium proposedthat the theme oftheir National ActionPlan on Women,
