I recently heard a sermon series in the book of Acts and the pastor preaching

made a reference that stuck with me. He told the congregation that they

were now the 1,745,201 chapter of Acts. We have been studying the book

of Acts because it is the Blueprints of the Church. When we finish up with

chapter 28, the story is not over. Each disciple, each church has its own

chapter. The question is, “Will our chapter be one of faithfulness and obedi-

ence?” God will not be checking to see if you came to church, gave “x”

amount of money or volunteered in “xyz” committee. Jesus told us very

clearly, if you love Me, you will obey Me (cf. John 14). Those things are certainly important to spiritual

growth and obedience, but they are not the metric that will be used. Did you love God will all your

heart, soul, mind and strength, and did you love your neighbor as yourself? We do that stuff NOT to

earn His grace, but rather BECAUSE of it!

May is an important month in the life of our church body. Yes, we have Mother’s Day and Me-

morial Day and other special events, but it is also a time of transition. Our nominating team is respon-

sible for helping you find a place to serve. God has gifted all believers, for works of service within the

body. There are big roles and small roles to play. Coffee doesn’t magically brew, classes aren’t mysti-

cally taught, tables and chairs don’t just fall into place. They need people to do those things. If you

have not plugged in somewhere, what is stopping you? Don’t wait for them to call; call them! Fran

Floyd, Diane Miller, Violet Hardison and Phil Gillespie would be happy to help you find a place to

serve.

Speaking of place to serve, one of the biggest places to plug in soon is VBS. Fran is guiding

that horse this year to Giddy-up Junction. Touch base to see how you can help this year.
