Las lecturas de hoy anticipan la ascensión.

From the Desk of Father Kurt

In the Gospel for this Sunday, Jesus tells his disciples to not let their hearts be troubled or afraid of the news that he will soon leave them. He tells them that his leaving them is actually a good thing, because it means that they soon will be receiving the gift of His Spirit, which will remain in them, leading them and guiding them in their mission to bring about the kingdom of God.

For many parents May is a month in which they are preparing graduations parties for their children, who will soon be leaving home for the first time to venture into the real world. This can be a freighting time, letting go and having to trust that your children are going to be just fine without you. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it is some one we love. The words from Jesus, “do let your hearts be troubled”, can be a reassuring reminder that God is in control, even when we are not.

Love in Christ, Father Kurt Farrell

Religious Freedom Week The 2019 Religious Freedom Week will be held June 22 – June 29, beginning on the Feast of Sts. John Fisher &Thomas More, ending with the Solemnity of Sts. Peter & Paul, which also includes the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. This year, the week also includes the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) and the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Religious freedom gives us the space to carry out the mission that Jesus has entrusted to the Church. Religious freedom means that Catholics, and all people of goodwill, are free to seek the truth and to live in accordance with that truth, and so to strengthen our common life as a nation. , The USCCB provides “Pray – Reflect – Act” documents, one for each day on different religious liberty topics.

Respect Life “Even among terminally ill patients, a
