Fairbanks Area Beloved Marriage Preparation series Clas-ses from the Augustine Institute begin Wednesday, August 1st at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, and will meet on Wednesdays through September 5th. If you are planning on getting married within the next year, contact your local pastor to begin the process then contact Immac-ulate Conception Church at 452-3533 to start classes.
Music & Good Liturgy with Gabriel Martinez: Be prepared for another engaging workshop presentation this
year by choir director and liturgical professional, Gabriel Martinez, who visited and worked with music ministers and vocalists in August last year. Gabriel is returning this summer to give two workshops at the Cathedral, one in English on July 11, and one in Spanish on July 12 (both begin at 6:30 PM). The talks will encompass liturgy and music in the Church and what it means during the Mass for those who serve. Sacristans, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Servers and Music Ministers are invited and welcome to attend these two informative free workshops hosted by the Cathedral. The Alaska Mission team of Catholic young adults is in Fairbanks and already ministering! As we begin to lay the foundation for this year of ministry in the Fair-banks area, we have a request for your parish. We are in urgent need of just 10 people from your parish to pledge $40/month to help us cover our rent so that we can continue our work for the entire year. Each missionary has received generous donations from their home parishes, but if this Alaska mission is to succeed, we will continue to need funding for our basic living expenses. This mission is totally reliant upon donations, and although our team will never ask the parishes for money for personal expenses, we are in need of suita-ble housing and reliable transportation in order to base our ministry here. Please come help us wish Father Ross the best on his upcoming sabbatical, and welcome Fa-ther Joe Townsend who will be filling in for Fr. Ross while he is away. Our summer picnic will be held in the cathedral parking lot (weather
permitting) on Sunday, July 22nd after our 11 AM bilingual Mass. If the weather is not cooperating, the picnic will be moved into the social hall. Our picnic is jointly sponsored by the Hospitality Committee, Hispanic Apostolate, and the Knights of Columbus. Hot dogs, burgers, rolls/buns, tomato, lettuce, and cheese slices, beverages, and condiments will be provided. Parishioners are asked to bring salads, chips, veggie trays, ethnic foods, or desserts to share. All are welcome – visitors, please join us in our celebration!
