SUNSET, SPRINGFIELD MO This has been an eventful week as we learned of last Sundays tornado in Joplin and began the first of many trips from Sunset to provide assistance to the victims there. We helped unload the first supplies from the Church of Christ Disaster Relief trucks at the Mt. Hope Church of Christ. This congregation is on the north side of Joplin and was spared any damage. They will serve as the staging point for assistance in the days and weeks to come. There will be a need for clean up teams this week. Trees are down and we will be needing crews with chain saws, rakes, wheelbarrows, etc. who can begin the massive challenge of cleaning up miles of streets in the affected neighborhoods. Special thanks go to Nancy Berlin, Joe and Dewayne Chainey and Jody Chaffin for their help in getting our workers organized there in Joplin this past week. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered losses there. Last Sunday we welcomed new member Kerri Hughes and prayed for two brothers who came asking for prayer. Ken Stewart and Bob Ortendahl asked that we pray for them as they confessed areas of struggle in their Christian lives. I know you will welcome Kerri and pray for these two brothers. Congratulations to Jarrod Griffin who was recently honored at the Missouri Recognition Ceremony for his ACT scores! Lets remember to hold our possessions lightly as we pass through life. As we witnessed this past week they can be gone in an instant and in the end they will all be destroyed by fire. This has been an eventful week as we learned of last Sunday’s tornado in Joplin and began the first of many trips from Sunset to provide assistance to the victims there. We helped unload the first supplies from the Church of Christ Disaster Relief trucks at the Mt. Hope Church of Christ. This congregation is on the north side of Joplin and was spared any damage. YOUTH ACTIVITIES

What a shock this past week has been. Through all the stories of sadness and triumph I can’t help but be reminded how awesome our God is. We’ve seen his power and we’ve seen his grace, and through all the questions we have to remember; yes, the sun shines on us all, but that also means a little rain will fall on us all as well. Please continue your prayers for the people of Joplin! I need to remind everyone of some of our upcoming events. Our Senior Celebration weekend is next week, June 4&5. I hope you’re all making plans to stay after evening worship next Sunday to recognize our 2011 Seniors. Parents please remember we’ll also be celebrating our Summer Kick-Off after 2nd worship Sunday the 5th. We’ll meet in the Bay Area and enjoy some great food and fun. Please sign up to bring drinks and desserts on the Youth Board. As the summer gets a little closer, let’s remember how blessed we are as well as the great opportunity we have to bless others!

• +1 Sunday- is TONIGHT after evening worship. The McQueary’s have graciously loaned us their suite again this year. We’ll take vans right after church and be back as soon as the game is over, probably around 9:30pm. Bring $5 to help with food and we’ll eat all we can!

• Summer Kick-Off - is next Sunday morning after 2nd worship. We’ll have lunch for you in the Bay Area. We’ll pass out calendars and get ready for the summer time! Remember to sign the sheet on the Youth Board!

• Sr. Honors Night - Is next Sunday evening. Our young men will be leading our worship and we’ll follow that up with the presentation of gifts and this year’s Senior Video, I think you’ll really enjoy it. Don’t forget to stay after for a short reception!
