After 18 years of having a home business it was a time for a change.Dabbling a bit with a few part time jobs I -nally came upon a full time job that could have potential for a possible career change. Although

I still have my home busi-ness for some things, I now work full time at the new Real Canadian Superstore in the Pho-to Lab and Studio. It's quite a change for me to be full time and hav-ing a few bosses, but I nd that at the end of the day I have a feeling of accomplishment and a job well done.I nd myself working in various sections of the store and I nd the gro-

cery department quite interesting. You might also see me as a cashier when it's busy, so be pa-tient, we've got some strange vegetables.I also started Send Out Cards as a little evening advertising business. Thanks ladies for the ones I took this year, it was great! So come on down to the Superstore and visit our lab. We have alot of 10 cent deals on photos.

South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services (SOICS) is a not-for-prof-it organization, formally known as the Penticton and District Multicultural Society. Within the next ten years, immigrants are expected to fill one-third (approximately 315,000 jobs) of all B.C. job openings (approximately 950,000). The global com-

petition for a talented work-force is expected to increase as all developed nations are experiencing similar demo-graphic trends. In response to this trend, SOICS is assist-ing the business community in the South Okanagan to prepare by helping employ-ers find, integrate and retain immigrant workers. SOICS connects skilled immigrants

workers to employers through its employment ser-vices and the Skills Connect program. Moreover SOICS offers many other settle-ment services, English as a Second Language Classes for Adults (ELSA) and more. SOICS is actively working towards building Welcoming and Inclusive Communities and Workplaces (WICWP).

She has trained for yoga and meditation to further enhance the school by offering these forms of exercise and relaxation methods of alternative therapy. After assembling the right ingredients to bring a community-care business with a small-town feel into Penticton, she’ll nally open the doors on Saturday, May 25.Big Blue Frog carries many Canadian-made items, and it’s a great little shop to pop into for a look around. It also features some locally made products, and combined with local owners, will help build a feeling of community for new and expecting mothers.
