Page 2: May 29-June 6, 2019 · Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world. ... The Pacific Northwest is known for its emerald green

Dear Iowa Voyagers,

The Pacific Northwest is known for its emerald green forests, picturesque mountains and scenic coastline. On this tour, you’ll journey from Seattle down to San Francisco, taking in some incredible sights along the way.

In Seattle, enjoy a city tour which begins with a ride to the top of the iconic Space Needle, originally built for the 1962 World’s Fair. Then you will enjoy the many highlights of the city including Pioneer Square, the Chittenden Locks & Fish Ladders plus a visit to Pike Place Market, home of the “Flying Fish”.

The program then continues south to visit the Mount St. Helens Visitor’s Center and learn how the 1980 eruption changed the surrounding landscape. From there, you will visit Port-land and experience its famous Rose Test Garden which features over 7,000 rose plants. A visit to Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, home to 500 foot tall sand dunes is cer-tain to impress. Conclude your visit to Oregon with a Rogue River Jet Boat Ride following the historic “mail boat” route.

Once in California, you’ll visit Redwood National Park, known for its majestic coast red-wood trees. As you continue south, stop in Sonoma Valley, one of the most famous wine-growing regions in the world and enjoy a Winery Visit & Tasting. Afterwards, travel to San Francisco by crossing the majestic Golden Gate Bridge and begin a two night stay & touring in the ‘City by the Bay’.

Please review the itinerary details and count the extras. With your round-trip airfare included from Des Moines*, this is an amazing value. We hope you’ll join us!

Sincerely,

Amy KassemAmy KassemAssistant Director, Alumni Engagement
