Colette Odya-Smith, PSA, IAPS-MC
Juror of Selection
A widely recognized pastel artist, Colette hails from Milwaukee, WI. She has been an artist her whole life, and spent a decade teaching art in Milwaukee schools. She discovered and fell in love with pastels at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. A professional artist for the past 20 years, Colette describes her approach to her work as follows: “I continue to explore ways to express the mystery and wonder I feel in the ‘school’ of nature, seeking The Divine hidden in His creation”.
Widely exhibited nationwide and overseas, her work has been featured in numerous art publications in the United States and France.
She has received many regional and national awards for her work, and has achieved the following designations:
• Master Pastelist of Le Societe des Pastelistes de France
• Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America
• Master Circle membership of the International Association of Pastel Societies
• Distinguished Pastelist honors in the Pastel Society of New Mexico.
Stan Sperlak, PSA
Juror of Awards
A nationally recognized pastel artist, Stan Sperlak resides in Cape May, NJ, where he owns and operates Crow Creek Farm, a studio and workshop teaching facility.
Educated at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Sperlak also studied under William Frederick, Patricia Witt, and Louis Mohollen. Primarily painting en plein aire, Stan’s paintings encompass the landscape of the Mid Atlantic – shores, marshes, fields and skies.
He is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, the Maryland Pastel Society, the Pastel Society of Colorado, and the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.
His work is represented by SOMA Gallery, Cape May, NJ; William Ris Gallery, Stone Harbor, NJ; Main Line Art, Philadelphia, PA; Hardcastle Gallery, Wilmington, DE; Main Street Gallery, Annapolis, MD; Laura Craig Galleries, Scranton, PA; Bishops Stock Gallery, Snow Hill, MD; and Noyes Museum, Oceanville, NJ.

A total of 246 images were entered via OnlineJuriedShows.com, a web-based service. Our juror, Colette Odya-Smith selected 90 pieces which were judged by Stan Sperlak.
