e month of May is devoted to honoring Mary. Since we are not able to gather together in person to crown an image of our Blessed Mother, we encourage you to join us for the live streaming of this Sunday’s Mass at 9:00 am on YouTube. Following Mass, you can honor Mary with a May Crowning in your own home! Here are some great ideas to help you create a special family celebration. Place a statue of Mary in a prominent corner of your home where you will see it throughout the month of May. If you don’t have a statue of Mary, find an image online, and print it. You can frame it or simply tape it to a wall. Next, get ready to celebrate our Blessed Mother by preparing a few things for the crowning. Choose a time and gather materials for a family ceremony: a song, a prayer or two, a scripture reading, etc. Make a crown for your statue out of natural, plastic or tissue paper flowers. If your statue is too small to crown, simply place some flowers in a vase to set on the table with you statue or picture of Mary. You can even prepare a special snack to share after the Crowning. Here’s a link to our You Tube page, for our Sunday Mass live stream. On the next page, you’ll find an order of service for an in-home May Crowning, as well as additional links for crafts, snacks and other things to help make your crowning memorable! Take a look at the ideas and choose your favorites! Involve all members of the family and don’t forget to share a photo with us of how you, as members of our Church community, are continuing to live out the faith at home! May Crowning at St. Mark

In-Home May Crowning Opening Hymn: Hail Mary—Gentle Woman

Reading (Luke 1:46-55): And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”

Prayer to Mary During Pandemic By Pope Francis: O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves

to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we

who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Crowning Hymn: Bring Flowers of the Rarest Prayer (Hail Mary or The Rosary): Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of death. Amen.
