This was a move-in project working with existing furniture and accessories. The far wall is painted a shade of green found in the accessories. The accent color highlights the French doors, the fireplace/entertainment wall and vaulted ceiling. The fireplace brass accents were painted black to update the surround. The owner installed a new ceiling fan and dining light fixture, both were inexpensive updates.

Adding modern wallpaper highlights the tones of the wood 15-panel door and offers a warm first impression. A rejected 60’s coffee table has been repurposed by adding foam and a painter’s tarp for its cover and is now the entry bench. A large dresser from another crowded room now defines a drop zone for keys and other front door needs.

It was important to make this kitchen stand out from the other 150 properties the builder had finished in the same way. The original paint cast a pink tone to the counters and floors. Using a "paint swatch" technique gives the space a younger, gender-neutral vibe. The grey paint coordinates with the floors, sets a separate paint color for the backsplash area and knocks the pink out of the counter. New knobs update the cabinets.
