SOCIAL MEDIA SPOTLIGHT

Last year, the HR department launched a social media initiative centered around the UMSL.jobs career marketing brand in an effort to attract top talent to the university. Across several channels - including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and YouTube - the recruitment team has worked to find new and unique ways to engage career minded members of the community while also showcasing and reaching out to the current campus community. CHANCELLOR’S AWARD FOR STAFF EXCELLENCE

Do you know an employee whose contributions have made this campus a better place to work for all of us? The

Chancellor’s Award for Excellence offers another opportunity for you to recognize a co-worker who demonstrates

exceptional competence, commitment and customer service.

At the State of the University Address, three UMSL staff members will receive these $1,000 awards in recognition

of their outstanding contributions to the campus. The Chancellor will present the awards to individuals in each of

three staff categories; administrative/professional, office/technical, and service/maintenance.

Employees and students may submit nominations. Regular, full-time staff employees, except those who have won

the award in the past three years, are eligible for nomination, as long as they meet the other criteria specified on the

nomination form. Awardees must have regular, full-time status at the time of the awards presentation. Self-

nominations and nominations which may violate University conflict of interest rules will not be considered.

The deadline for submitting nominations is July 11, 2013. Nomination forms, including criteria for nomination/

selection and submission instructions were e-mailed to all employees on June 3, 2013. Employees may also access

the nomination form at www.umsl.edu/services/hrs/forms.html under Organizational Development.

Nominations can be e-mailed to [email protected] or sent to Nancy Draper, 211 AAB. If you have questions re-

garding the nomination process, contact Nancy Draper at ext. 7219.

WELLNESS INFO

Be sure to check out the campus walking maps on the HR website at http://www.umsl.edu/services/hrs/Current%

20Employees/employeewellness.html. There is sure to be a location near you! The maps are a great way to get started with

the Million Step Pedometer Program. There are a variety of prizes for every million steps you take — with no limit.

To enroll in the Million Step Pedometer program, the costs are as follows:

Basic pedometer: $15

FitBit pedometer: $39.50

If paying by credit card, please contact Healthy for Life at 573-882-1312 and your pedometer packet will be sent

to you via campus mail.

If paying by check, send checks via campus mail (made payable to Healthy for Life) to Healthy for Life at 202

Heinkel Building, MU Campus.

By enrolling in this program, you are eligible for a full rebate and prizes for each million steps you walk. There’s

no time limit on reaching these milestones. If you’d like to buddy-up, please know that faculty, staff and immediate family

members are eligible to participate and earn prizes. Should you be interested in any other wellness offerings, please visit

our website at www.wellness.umsystem.edu and/or if you would like to start a walking group at UMSL, please contact

Sarah Ellis at [email protected] and she can provide you with the tools you need.

SUMMER 2013 METRO PASSES

Employees can still purchase a Summer 2013 Metro pass (valid until August 17, 2013) for $65. Passes can be purchased in

the Cashier’s Office (285 Millennium Student Center). This pass allows for unlimited access to Metrobus and Metrolink

service during the 2013 Summer Semester. As a 30-day pass purchased directly from Metro costs $72, this pass

represents a significant cost savings.

A valid UMSL employee, volunteer, or vendor id is required when using the Metro pass.

For questions, contact D’Andre Braddix at [email protected].
