Dear Division 13,This Jai Agarwal, your Lieutenant Governor. I really hope you had a great service year, but that does not mean the job is over.

At this time of the year the new officers are just getting acquainted with their positions and holding final meetings celebrating the service year.

But the service year is not finished because it is the summer. As a organization, we do not have to rely on the school to hold meetings and events.

For that reason I plan to hold many events over the summer and hope that you key clubbers participate and keep your service to your community strong.

For you new officers, I will be holding workshops over the summer to let you understand your responsibilities better and answer any questions you have about your position.

I want to make the next school year the most successful school for Division 13 yet, but I will need your help.

Lieutenant Governor’s Greeting

Division 13 WebsiteThis year I was hoping to have a website so as a division we could communicate easier and encourage interclub activities. This website will allow you to post any questions or concerns you want me to inquire about.

I am happy to say my dream is going to become reality. Division Webmaster, Kyle Pacia, and I have been working on the website for weeks and we only have a few more tweaks to perform to make it perfect.

I plan to give you the link to the website, in July once we are able to get it finalized and accepted by the Administrator and Governor.

Service SpotlightsNewburgh Free Academy Key Club’s Walk for AutismThe Newburgh Free Academy Key Club, which is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh, conducted its third annual Walk for Autism on May 10. There was a great turnout of Key Club members, walkers, parents, autistic children, Board of Education members, and a Kiwanis member. They walked the track of the Academy and raised $1,214 with a generous donation from the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh

Service SpotlightsMiddletown High School Key Club’s “I am Middletown” EventOn May 9, 2014 the Middletown Community held I am Middletown event. Middletown High School’s I am Middletown Event allows for community interaction and show school pride, and Middletown High School Key Club participated by having a face painting station for the little kids that were there.Sadly, the weather did not corporation this year and it rained the whole time so the turn out was not as high as hoped.

Leadership Training Conference Experience

LTG Jai Agarwal’s ExperienceWell, this was my third LTC and this year was by far the best. At LTC incoming officers and club members have a chance to learn more about Key Club International, New York District Key Club, and how to be a better Key Clubber. This year the amount of workshops increased, which included officer workshops where there is a workshop for each executive position in the Key Club, other workshops educates you on international and district projects, and some workshops gave clubs great ideas on increasing membership, service projects, and fundraisers.

There is also the social aspect of the LTC experience. This year, over 600 Key Clubbers attended the Conference from all over New York. I met so many new friends and we exchanged so many Key Club stories because that was the link that connected all of us.

Division Secretary Rose Alexander’s Experience I have had the pleasure of attending LTC three times and every time I go I don't want to go home. LTC is a very fun, informative weekend and I left each time prepared to take on the position that I was elected for. My favorite part of LTC is the workshops because they provide many different ideas for service projects and fundraisers. My club has even used some of the ideas that we got from LTC. If I had the chance to go to LTC again I would say yes in a heartbeat.

About MeI have been in Key Club for my whole high school career and I have enjoyed every minute of it.My freshmen and sophomore years in high school, I was the treasurer of Middletown High School Key Club and as treasurer I learned so much about Key Club and Kiwanis Club.Knowing all the good Key Club does and seeing how our division was not as strong and together as it should be, made want to run for higher office and become lieutenant governor of this division. For me Key Club is not an extracurricular activity, it is something that I believe in and cherish. My goal for this division is to have you key clubbers feel the same way as I do.

International Convention 2014ICON is what LTC is based on. 1,600 Key Clubbers will be attending this convention.Sadly the deadline for this convention is passed, I hope some of you in the division will be willing to next year. Next year, it will be in IndianapolisIt is also a chance to see landmarks in the area around the city the convention will be held.

Major Emphasis Program• “Children: Their Future, Our Focus”• In 1946, Key Club International challenged all Key Clubs

and members to focus energies on making an international impact. This program still is followed today through the Major Emphasis: “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.”

• To fulfill the mission of the Major Emphasis, Key Club International serves children in many ways. Members participate in the hands-on service initiative, currently The Eliminate Project, and fundraise for Key Club International’s partner organizations: Children’s Miracle Network, March of Dimes and UNICEF.
